The Disappearance and Murder of Danielle Moss

Danielle Moss vanished in Washington, DC on April 9th, 2023. The 32-year-old woman was last seen between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM that day, reportedly at a liquor store near her residence on Q Street. Danielle was supposed to go to her parents’ residence that afternoon to celebrate Easter with her family members. She never showed up, and her loved ones never saw or heard from her again.

Danielle was reported missing on April 11th, 2023, after her family learned that she had not been answering phone calls from Andre Hudson, the father of her son. Danielle’s son was only 3 years old at the time, and he had been with his father on the weekend of Danielle’s disappearance. Family members say that Danielle would never ignore calls regarding her son, nor would she ever voluntarily leave him behind.

Two months passed without any sign of Danielle. Then, on June 10th, 2023, police in Waldorf, Maryland received a call about a partially covered body that had been spotted in a wooded area near Holly Springs Drive. Days later, authorities announced that the body was that of Danielle Moss. Her death was ruled a homicide, though her exact cause of death has not been disclosed.

Shortly after Danielle’s body was found, police stated that they were speaking to a person of interest. However, years have passed, and no persons of interest or suspects have ever been publicly identified. Reports indicate that Danielle’s family believed she was “involved with some people who didn’t have her best interests in mind”, but they still do not know who would have wanted her dead. Danielle has been described as a dedicated mother who had a good co-parenting relationship with her son’s father. She did not have any known enemies.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is investigating Danielle’s homicide. If you have any information that could help solve the case, please contact authorities at 301-609-6518.

The Disappearance of Gwendolyn Carswell

Gwendolyn Carswell has been missing since August 17th, 2004. The then-44-year-old woman lived in Washington, D.C. at the time of her disappearance. She was last seen in the 2600 block of 18th and Otis Street NE. Gwendolyn left her home that evening after telling her mother she was going to a party. She never returned and has never been seen or heard from again.

Gwendolyn's family describes her as a loving and helpful person who was devoted to raising her children. She was also very outgoing and had a lot of friends. When days passed and Gwendolyn had still not returned home, nor had she been in touch with anyone in her close circle, her family knew something was wrong. Gwendolyn was subsequently reported missing by her mother and brother.

Over 20 years have passed, and Gwendolyn still remains missing. Foul play is suspected in her disappearance. In fact, police believe that Gwendolyn was likely targeted and/or harmed by someone she knew. However, no suspects or persons of interest have been publicly named.

Various sources also note that Gwendolyn was a victim of a violent crime in the late 1980s. In August 2024, the senior detective on the case said that "his team is looking into whether [the '80s crime] is linked", but since then, no follow-up on that has been provided. Further information about this violent crime is unavailable.

A cold case unit is now in charge of investigating Gwendolyn's case. Investigators have appealed to the public for anyone with information about Gwendolyn's disappearance to come forward. If you have any information that could help the investigation, please call (202) 727-9099 or text a tip to 50411.

The Disappearance of David Stern

Source: wjla.com

David Stern has been missing since November 27th, 2018. The then-29-year-old was last seen in Washington, DC. At the time of his disappearance, David worked as an accountant with Center City Public Charter Schools. He had also recently gotten engaged to his live-in girlfriend.

David's fiancΓ© last heard from him shortly before 4:30 PM on the day he vanished. He sent her a text message saying he was leaving work early to go to a doctor's appointment and would be home later. However, David never returned home, and his loved ones have never heard from him again.

The last known sighting of David occurred at a liquor store in the 3400 block of M Street. Surveillance cameras captured him buying a pint of Crown Royal shortly after 6:00 PM on the day of his disappearance. Later that evening, around 9:00 PM, David's cell phone pinged off of a tower in the Georgetown area.

According to reports, David did not have any known connections to that area and did not go there often. It's unknown why his phone would have pinged off of a tower in that location. This appears to be the last known sign of David; his cell phone, credit cards, and bank accounts have not been used since that evening.

David's disappearance came as a shock to his family and friends. Those closest to him do not believe he was depressed or struggling with anything serious prior to vanishing. There has been very little media coverage on David's disappearance, and years have passed without any updates in his case.

The Metropolitan Police are in charge of investigating David's disappearance. If you have any information that could lead to his whereabouts, please submit a tip by calling 202-727-9099 or texting 50411.

For unclear reasons, Latrice was not reported missing until September 5th, 2018. Throughout the investigation, it was determined that she was last seen around 8:45 PM on July 16th, 2018. The circumstances surrounding Latrice's disappearance are otherwise unknown.

The Disappearance and Presumed Murder of Unique Harris

Unique Harris was 24 years old when she disappeared without a trace on October 9th, 2010. The previous evening, Unique and her two young sons were spending time with Unique's cousin, Tiffanee, and Tiffanee’s 9-year-old daughter, at Unique’s apartment in southeast Washington, DC. Tiffanee later returned to her home on the other side of town, but her daughter remained at Unique’s apartment for a sleepover. Unique watched a movie with the children before tucking them into bed.

Around 9 AM the next morning, Tiffanee received a phone call from her 9-year-old daughter, who was frightened because she and the other children were unable to find Unique. Tiffanee assumed Unique had simply run out to the corner store and told her daughter not to worry. She was unable to get a ride over to Unique’s apartment at the time, but she kept in touch with her daughter and Unique’s children via phone throughout the entire day. When she finally was able to get to Unique’s apartment, she found the children there alone with absolutely no sign of Unique anywhere. Various friends and family members had not heard from Unique at all that day either.

Unique’s loved ones immediately began to fear that she stepped out for a quick errand and then was attacked or mugged. However, when the family searched Unique’s apartment, they found her prescription eyeglasses folded on her bed. Unique was nearly blind without her glasses, and it is unlikely that she would voluntarily leave home without them. After this discovery, Unique’s family called the police to report her missing.

When police arrived on the scene, it was discovered that Unique also left behind her purse, identification, and wallet. Oddly enough, the only items missing from her apartment were her cell phone and apartment keys. Additionally, there were no signs of a struggle or forced entry in the apartment, and the children said they did not see or hear anything unusual during the night.

Unique’s final cell phone activity was a phone call at 3am; the phone has either died or been turned off since then. Naturally, police looked at Unique’s ex-boyfriend/father of her children as a potential suspect, but he passed a polygraph and was eventually ruled out. Police questioned Unique’s current boyfriend as well, and he was also ultimately cleared.

Unique had no history of drug abuse, nor did her loved ones known about any family/relationship issues at the time of her disappearance. Years went by without any updates in the case. A decade would pass before any break was publicly announced.

An announcement on Facebook

As previously noted, years passed without any updates in Unique's case. Although nothing was publicly announced about a suspect until 2020, it appears that Unique's loved ones were notified about a suspect in 2018. That year, Unique's mother posted the following on Facebook:

“It is with my most heartbroken, deepest, & saddest regret, that I inform Unique’s most loving supporters, followers, partners, & donors of her demise. Unfortunately, this almost 8 yr. journey to find Unique ALIVE, has come to these findings in her Missing Person’s case investigation, that Unique’s more likely then not, DECEASED, & now I must memorialize my baby girl!πŸ“·πŸ˜‘πŸ“·πŸ˜’πŸ“·πŸ’”God knows, I NEVER wanted to have to inform ALL of you, that have been remarkably loving through this ordeal of this news. My apologies for this NOT being a happier ending. I’ve been fighting so hard to bring you all good news in the end. However, it appears that I can not make that happen with the evidence we’ve compiled in Unique’s case. I hope ALL of Unique’s supporters KNOW, I did my very best to find her ALIVE, & bring her home to her sons, & all of us. I can’t give anymore specific details in the case right now, as I’m sure most, if not all of you KNOW, this war for Justice is not over, as far as the Judicial portion of Unique’s case goes, which must now take place in our court system. BUT I WANT YOU ALL TO KNOW, all of your prayers, love, & support HAS NOT been in vain! Because WE GOT THE MURDERING MONGREL! Yes, we got ‘em! I want to thank you ALL with ALL my heart, & soul, because without Team Unique Harris’ selfless supporters, this WOULD NOT have been possible! I WILL keep you all posted as we move forward to make sure, this diabolical, deviant creature NEVER does this to another parent, & family! I also want to make if clear, that my advocacy, & speaking out/up for Missing/Abducted, Unresolved Homicide, Human/Sex Trafficking, etc. will STILL be an intricate part of my life! I WILL STILL FIGHT for our voiceless victims, & continue to speak to our babies in our communities, & prayerfully be a part of a POSITIVE uplifting solution to these God awful cases, that NONE OF US asked for, wanted, or deserve. I intend to make sure my child’s short 24 yr. life, that was so brutally taken away from her…WILL NOT be in vain! Much love & appreciation I’m sending your way!πŸ“·πŸ’ŒπŸ“·πŸ™P.S. Stay tuned in for further details, as the opportunities & information become available for me to share.”

At the time this post was created, there was no official word from mainstream media or police about what was written. Even though Unique's mother wrote that Unique was dead, and they knew who killed her, no arrests were made.

An arrest.

Finally, in December 2020, that all changed. On December 21st, it was announced that a man named Isaac Moye was arrested and charged with Unique's murder. At the time of his arrest, very few details were released about how the arrest came about. Police did reveal that they have questioned Isaac numerous times over the years. Additionally, Isaac was reportedly wearing a GPS monitor in October 2010, which confirmed that he was at Unique's house the evening that she disappeared.

A conviction.

In June 2023, Isaac was convicted of second-degree murder in Unique's case. During the court proceedings, more information about Isaac's relationship with Unique was revealed. Authorities revealed that Isaac met Unique shortly after she moved to DC in 2010. He quickly developed romantic feelings for her, which were unrequited.

Unique had a boyfriend who lived in Richmond, Virginia, and was not interested in pursuing a relationship with Isaac. On the evening of Unique's disappearance, Isaac's GPS monitor confirmed that he was at Unique's residence from 10:39 PM on October 9th until 7:20 AM on October 10th. During that time, Unique was in contact via text and call with her boyfriend several times throughout the night. Prosecutors alleged that Isaac was jealous of Unique's boyfriend.

As Unique continued to talk to her boyfriend, prosecutor Vinet Bryant stated, "[Isaac] sat there, feeling ignored, feeling jilted." It is believed that from there, Isaac escalated into assaulting and murdering Unique. DNA from Isaac's semen was reportedly found on Unique's couch, leading authorities to believe that he sexually assaulted her before killing her and disposing of her body.

Despite the conviction, Unique's body has still not been found. Her family still hopes to one day find closure and give her a proper burial.

The Disappearances & Murders of Jewel King, Verdell Jefferson, & Dorothy Butts

Pictured from left to right: Jewel King (48), Verdell Jefferson (41), and Dorothy Butts (43)

Jewel, Verdell, and Dorothy were three unrelated individuals living in the Washington, DC area when they disappeared during 2006. Jewel was the first of the three women to vanish. She was last seen alive on April 7th, 2006, on Galveston Street. Jewel's mother reported her missing a few days later. Verdell vanished a few weeks later, on May 1st, 2006--but was not reported missing until August 2006. Dorothy vanished on Christmas Day 2006, after she left home to go to a local store and never returned. She was reported missing later that day.

It is unclear if the three missing women knew each other, and initially there was no indication that their disappearances were related. Their cases quickly went cold. There was very little media coverage on any of the women.

Over a decade after their disappearances, during April 2018, construction workers began enlarging a crawl space in the basement of an apartment building in Congress Heights. While working on the crawl space, the workers spotted a set of human remains. Police were called, and a search of the surrounding area led to the discovery of two other sets of human remains.

Investigators eventually identified the first set of remains as Jewel King Shortly thereafter, it was confirmed that the other sets of remains belonged to Verdell Jefferson and Dorothy Butts. All three women had been murdered. Jewel and Dorothy had been shot to death, while Verdell had been bludgeoned. Investigators have yet to find a connection between the three women, nor have they announced any suspects. However, the DC police chief stated that he believes the women were all killed by the same person.

The murders of all three women remain unsolved today. If you have any information that could help solve their cases, please call (202) 727-9099 or text 50411 to submit an anonymous tip.

The Disappearance of Relisha Rudd

Relisha Rudd has been missing since March 2014. The young girl was only 8 years-old at the time of her disappearance, and prior to her vanishing, she was living at a DC homeless shelter with her mother Shamika Young. Upon moving to the shelter, Shamika befriended a janitor who worked at the there named Khalil Tatum. Unbeknownst to Shamika, Khalil had a long felony record for burglary, larceny, and breaking and entering. He was also known to fraternize with the residents of the homeless shelter. Once Khalil and Shamika grew closer, Khalil grew attached to Relisha, as well. In fact, he took Relisha to see Disney on Ice and bought her a tablet computer. Eventually, Shamika trusted Khalil enough to allow him to take Relisha with him overnight. Khalil allegedly then took Relisha to his home to stay with him and his grandmother.

By February 2014, Relisha was spending a lot of time under Khalil’s care. She stopped attending school at that point, but her mother provided a note to the school that stated Relisha was having health problems and she was under the care of a “Dr. Tatum”. Shamika provided a number, and the school contacted who they thought was Dr. Tatum and asked him to come to the school for a meeting. On March 19th, 2014, when nobody showed up for the meeting, the school called the police to report Relisha missing.

Once the search for Relisha began, authorities learned that Khalil was the last person to have seen the young girl. Investigator’s attempts to contact Khalil came up dry, so they attempted to locate his wife Andrea Tatum. It was revealed that Andrea had recently checked into a hotel in Oxon Hill, Maryland. When police went to her hotel room, they found Andrea dead--she had been shot to death. At that point, police announced that Khalil was the main suspect in both Relisha’s disappearance and Andrea’s death.

At this point, investigators were on a manhunt for both Relisha and Khalil. They determined that the last known sighting of Relisha was on March 1st, 2014. That day, Relisha was captured by surveillance cameras walking through the hallways of a Days Inn with Khalil. The following day,  on March 2nd, Khalil was seen buying extra large trash bags. He was by himself at the time of that purchase. March 2nd also happened to be the last day that Andrea Tatum was seen alive.

In the following weeks, investigators worked tirelessly to locate both Relisha and Khalil. Then, on March 31st, 2014, Khalil's body was found in a shed in Kenilworth Park. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. There was no sign of Relisha at the scene.

There are numerous theories about what Khalil might have done to Relisha, but any information that he might have had about Relisha's whereabouts died with him. The two most predominant theories are that Khalil killed Relisha and hid her body, or that Khalil sold her to sex traffickers. Both theories are being investigated and authorities are still searching for Relisha. If you have any information that could help the investigation, please contact authorities at (202) 727-9099.
