The Murder of Keke Jefferson-Moore

source: goldenvalleymn.gov

The morning of September 23rd, 2000 began as a seemingly normal day in Golden Valley, Minnesota. Temperatures were ranging between the high 40s-low 50s; still warm enough to spend time outside if properly attired. On two this particular morning, individuals were doing just that - taking a morning walk alongside Theodore Wirth Lake - when they spotted something unexpected in the water: the body of a young female.

Police were notified about the discovery of the body shortly before 10:00 AM. The call indicated that there was a possible drowning at the lake. Once police arrived on the scene, it was discovered that the victim was fully clothed but did not have any identification. However, it did not take long for investigators to identify the young woman as 20-year-old Keke Jefferson-Moore.

An autopsy determined that Keke's death was not the result of drowning - she had actually been a victim of homicide. In fact, it is believed that she was actually killed elsewhere before her body was disposed of at the lake. Keke's exact cause of death has never been revealed, but police announced very early on that they were investigating her case as a murder.

-

More about Keke.

Keke was born in September of 1980 to Johnetta Jefferson-Moore and Benjamin Moore. She was the youngest of three siblings and had an older brother and sister. Keke grew up in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota with her family.

According to reports, Keke was an outgoing and friendly person. As a child, she enjoyed typical things such as riding her bike and playing with makeup. In high school, she developed a passion for writing and photography.

Keke graduated from high school in 1998. She took a job as a telemarketer after graduation but hoped to eventually go to college to study journalism. Unfortunately, Keke was murdered before those hopes could be pursued.

Theodore Wirth Lake.

source: Wikipedia

As previously stated, Keke's body was found at the edge of Theodore Wirth Lake. Investigators noted that it did not appear that she had been in the water for very long before her body was discovered. It is believed she was killed elsewhere. More specifically, investigators reportedly believe Keke's body was placed there between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM the day before it was found.

Initial theories.

Days after Keke's body was discovered, an unnamed 24-year-old man was arrested and booked on suspicion of homicide. Reports did not indicate the nature of the relationship between Keke and this man; only that the two of them knew each other. The man was eventually released after being questioned, and he was never formally charged with anything related to Keke's case.

Around this time, police noted that there are others who had not been ruled out as well. However, nobody else has been publicly named as a suspect or person of interest in Keke's case.

Police also pondered if Keke's murder was connected to four other murders that had occurred in the vicinity of Theodore Wirth Lake in 1996. However, the main suspect in those murders was quickly ruled out, as he had already been convicted for one of the killings at the time Keke was murdered.

A cold case.

Over two decades have passed, and Keke's murder still remains unsolved. It does not appear that any other persons of interest have ever been identified. Keke's family members are still hoping to find answers and justice.

If you have any information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of Keke's killer(s), please contact the Golden Valley Police at (763) 512-2500.

The Disappearance of Domonique Holley-Grisham

Domonique Holley-Grisham has been missing since February 12th, 2009.

That day began as a typical day for the then-16-year-old. Domonique played in a hockey game, where he reportedly won MVP of the game. He then returned to his family's home in Rochester, New York. Domonique vanished a short time later. He still remains missing today.

Domonique is the second oldest amongst six siblings. Just hours before he vanished, Domonique brought some of his younger brothers' home from his hockey game while their mother went to the store. At some point after arriving home, Domonique received a phone call that prompted him to walk outside of the residence. He told his siblings he would be back, but he never returned. Domonique has never been seen or heard from again.

Domonique's mother later reported him missing. Police classified Domonique's disappearance as a runaway, despite the fact that he had never done so before, nor had he indicated that he planned to leave. There were a few reported sightings of him in the Rochester area, but none of the sightings were ever confirmed.

Over the years, there have been a few rumors about what might have happened to Domonique. In 2016, Domonique's mother told reporters that several people have reached out to her, "saying her son was killed by a group of teens over an unknown disagreement. Others have told her his death was an accident and was hidden because the kids he was with were scared."

Neither of these theories have been confirmed, but it appears that they also have not been ruled out. Domonique's case remains opened, but several years have passed without any updates in the case. There has been very little reporting about his disappearance.

Domonique's family has since moved to North Carolina. They are still hoping to once day receive answers about what happened to him. If you have any information that could lead to Domonique's whereabouts, please contact the Rochester Police Department at 585-428-6595.

The Disappearance of Jasmine Earl

source: NamUs

Jasmine Earl has been missing since June 14th, 2005. The then-18-year-old was last seen in DeKalb County, Georgia. Jasmine was driving a blue 1989 Chevrolet Astro van at the time of her disappearance. She has never been seen or heard from again.

Several months later, in February 2006, the van that Jasmine was driving was found abandoned in 4600 block of Dawson Road. No further sign of Jasmine was found on the scene. According to family members, the van did not provide any additional clues about Jasmine's disappearance.

There has been very little news reporting about Jasmine's case. However, in late 2005, a thread about her disappearance was created on Websleuths. A cousin of Jasmine's posted to the thread and provided additional details that have not been provided by police or the media.

The cousin wrote, in part, "What we know so far is that she was last seen at the Washington Mutual bank on Chamblee-Tucker Rd."  According to the cousin, Jasmine's family was told that the bank does not have cameras outside their location. Her whereabouts and actions after leaving the bank remain unknown.

Jasmine's cousin also posted that it is unusual for Jasmine to be out of touch with her loved ones. Police initially thought that she left on her own accord; however, there does not appear to be any evidence to suggest that she planned to leave and stay out of contact with her family.

The Websleuths thread has been inactive since 2006/2007. The information provided by the cousin has not been confirmed by authorities, who have overall remained quiet about the investigation into Jasmine's disappearance. As such, there are many unanswered questions.

The discovery of Jasmine's van is a source of some of those unanswered questions. The vehicle was found in a location approximately five to six miles away from Chamblee-Tucker Road. How did it end up in that area? How long had the van been there? Did Jasmine herself park it in the spot where it was found? At this time, all of this information still remains unknown.

Jasmine remains missing today. The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department is in charge of her case. If you have any information that could lead to her whereabouts, please contact authorities at 404-297-2574.

The Disappearance of Cameron Hardman

source: uncovered.com

Cameron Hardman has been missing since October 31st, 2011.

The then-31-year-old man was last seen in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania. It was Halloween, and Cameron reportedly had plans to meet up with friends in the 4500 block of Carmac Street in Philadelphia. He vanished after he left a residence on Newlin Avenue in Sharon Hill; presumably headed to the Carmac Street residence. Cameron has never been seen or heard from again.

Cameron was later reported missing by his family. On November 4th, 2011, Cameron's mother told reporters that Cameron does not have a criminal background. She also noted that Cameron had never left home without a warning before, making his sudden absence all the more baffling.

Three days after that reporting, on November 7th, 2011, Cameron's car was found abandoned at 5234 North 2nd Street in Philadelphia. The vehicle was located approximately seven blocks away from the address on Carmac Street, where Cameron was headed on the evening of his disappearance. Cameron's personal items, including his cell phone and wallet, were found inside the car, but Cameron himself was still nowhere to be found.

Cameron remains missing today. There has been minimal reporting on his case, so details about the investigation are unknown. Cameron's disappearance is considered a cold case.

The Murder of Andrae Davis

source: uncovered.com

Andrae Davis was murdered at his own home on August 17th, 2011. The 31-year-old man lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico with his fiancé and their young children at the time of his death. Andrae was killed after a bullet went through the front door of his residence.

The night of the murder began as a pleasant one for Andrae. He spent the evening with his fiancé and children at a local park. What began as a nice night with family quickly took a tragic turn after they returned to their home at the Eagle Nest Condominiums on Vail Street. At some point, a fight broke out in front of Andrae's residence, causing a loud commotion right outside the door.

As he looked through the peephole, Andrae noticed that the fight was amongst a group of men. He did not know the men, nor did he ever attempt to get involved in the altercation. Andrae continued to watch through the peephole as one of the men drew a gun and pulled the trigger. The bullet missed the intended target; instead, it went through Andrae's front door and struck him in the heart.

Andrae's loved ones have been left without answers or justice for several years. In the days that followed the shooting, Andrae's family members were told by police that "a person involved in the shooting had escaped from UNM Hospital and fled to Mexico." Police also stated that two other persons of interest have fled the country as well. The identities of said persons have never been publicly revealed.

In 2015, Andrae's family was awarded $12 million in a lawsuit filed against Eagle Nest Condominiums and its property management company. The lawsuit alleged that company could have done more to prevent the shooting. Screenings and background checks are reportedly required by the rules of the complex, but that rule was not being consistently followed.

An attorney for Andrae's family told reporters that the lack of background checks is what led to a known drug dealer living in the complex. The family believes said drug dealer was involved in the shooting. A jury agreed with Andrae's family, and they were subsequently rewarded the $12 million.

Still, Andrae's loved ones hope that those involved in his murder will be brought to justice. Unfortunately, Andrae's murder is considered a cold case. If you have any information that could help the investigation, please contact Albuquerque Crimestoppers at 505-843-STOP.

The Murder of Quesola Mimms

source: uncovered.com

Quesola Mimms was excited to begin a new chapter in her life during September 2016. The 20-year-old woman was due to start a job at a factory in Chicago, Illinois, and she was looking forward to going to work. However, Quesola reportedly never showed up for her first shift.

Quesola, known as Keke by those close to her, left the Chicago residence that she shared with her mother on September 21st, 2016. She was never seen alive again. Two days later, a Chicago Park District worker found a plastic bag containing what appeared to be a human head in a lagoon at McKinley Park. Upon hearing about the discovery of the remains, Quesola's family members feared that the remains belonged to her.

In November 2016, the Cook County Medical Examiner's confirmed these fears: the remains were that of Quesola Mimms. About a month later, her death was ruled a homicide. However, a motive for her death remains unknown. According to reports, Quesola was a kind young woman and a mother to a young daughter, who was just 18 months old at the time of Quesola's death. It does not appear that Quesola had any known enemies.

Shortly after the severed head was found at the lagoon in McKinley Park, investigators drained the lagoon in search of the rest of Quesola's remains. They weren't found during the search and have not been found to this day.

Years have passed, and Quesola's murder remains unsolved. No suspects or persons of interest have ever been publicly announced. Quesola's murder is considered a cold case.

If you have any information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of Quesola's killer(s), please contact the Chicago Police Department at (312) 742-4410.

The Murder of Shantell Pollard

source: Front Page Detectives

Shantell Pollard was only 19 years-old when she died after being shot on October 31st, 2017. The teenage girl planned to celebrate Halloween that evening with friends on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. Unfortunately, Shantell never made it to the celebration.

Shantell's friends picked her up from her family's home in Thibodaux around 10:00 PM on the evening of the shooting. Their plan was to make the hour-long drive to New Orleans, but first they needed to drop Shantell's friend's children off at a home in a nearby Marydale neighborhood. The Disappearance and Murder of Jerome Ezell

source: wilx.com

Jerome Ezell vanished under suspicious circumstances on November 7th, 2017. The then-27-year-old man was last seen alive in Lansing, Michigan. Over a year later, on December 12th, 2018, Jerome's remains were found in a wooded area in Van Buren County off of I-94. His death was labeled a homicide.

The day of Jerome's disappearance seemingly began as a regular day. He dropped off his girlfriend, Jasmine Hill, at her job in Lansing. Jerome was driving a vehicle the couple shared, a white 2017 Chevy Equinox. He was supposed to later pick Jasmine up from work, but he never showed up as planned.

After Jasmine's calls to Jerome went unanswered, she contacted OnStar to try and locate their car. OnStar subsequently led to police finding the vehicle on N. Fairview Avenue in Lansing. Jerome's five-month-old son was found in the car, unharmed and strapped into his car seat, but Jerome himself was nowhere to be found. Police subsequently began to investigate Jerome's disappearance.

A year after Jerome went missing, a local news report stated that police did not consider his disappearance to be a cold case, but it was "at a standstill." A little over a month later, human remains were found in a wooded area in Van Buren County. Days later, the remains were confirmed to be that of Jerome Ezell.

It's worth noting that Jerome's body was found approximately 100 miles away from where his car was found. It's unknown if he was killed in that location or if his body was hidden there after the fact. There is otherwise very little information available about the investigation into Jerome's murder. Police were quick to label Jerome's manner of death as a homicide, but his exact cause of death has not been publicly revealed.

Both the Michigan State Police and the FBI are involved in the search for Jerome's killer(s). The FBI is offering a monetary reward for "information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible" for Jerome's murder. The Disappearance of Marquita Jones

source: WTNH News 8 Facebook

Marquita Lenae Jones has been missing since 2011. The then-28-year-old woman was reportedly last seen "on or near West Street" in New Haven, Connecticut. A specific timeline surrounding Marquita's disappearance is unknown; however, her NamUs page states that "she was last seen by family in the summer of 2011." Most sources list July 1st, 2011 as the date that Marquita went missing.

According to a 2019 report, Marquita struggled with substance abuse at the time of her disappearance. That report also indicates that Marquita was homeless, but she may have been staying in the Hill neighborhood of New Haven at the time she vanished. Other than that, there are very few details available about her disappearance.

Various postings on social media about Marquita's disappearance indicate that she is loved and missed. In 2017, a Reddit user posted about Marquita's case in a true crime subreddit. Another user replied, "I knew marquita and her family very well , I heard through a close relative of hers she left CT to get out of trouble she was in with probation, but its been awhile now and family still hasnt heard from her she has a tendency to go with the crowd and I believe it got her missing I hope one day we can find out what really happened."

The information from this comment has not been confirmed, and it's unknown if detectives have even looked into this theory. In fact, it was reported in 2019 that Marquita's disappearance is amongst a few other cases of missing women in Connecticut that are not being actively investigated. Acting Police Chief Otoniel Reyes told reporters via email, "Although we are not actively working these cases, they are very much open, and we welcome an opportunity to remind the public about them in hopes it will spark new information."

If you have any information that could lead to Marquita's whereabouts, please contact the New Haven Police Department at 203-946-6304.

The Disappearance of Davante Richardson

source: FBI.gov

Davante Richardson has been missing since July 2020. The then-28-year-old man lived in Washington, D.C. at the time of his disappearance, but he vanished after reportedly traveling to Wyoming. Davante was last seen by his mother at the residence they shared on Mississippi Avenue Southeast on July 20th, 2020. Family remembers reported him missing two days later.

Before vanishing, Davante told others that he was going to Wyoming to "help his friend Kanye". He was referring to rapper Kanye West, who owns a ranch in Greybull, Wyoming. Davante does not personally know West; however, his final outgoing text message to a friend stated that he was "going to see his buddy Kanye."

On July 27th, 2020, Davante's vehicle was found abandoned on a dirt road in Big Horn County Wyoming, located several miles east of West's ranch. Davante's keys, two cell phones, and laptop were found inside the car. According to reports, the car was “clean and very well kept, without presenting any evidence of a sustained road trip." The vehicle was also not found to have any mechanical issues.

Authorities interviewed West's security team at the Wyoming ranch. The security team did not report having any encounters with anyone matching Davante's description. It is not believed that Davante ever actually made it to West's ranch.

Throughout the investigation, it was revealed that Davante "was believed to have been sighted at a gas station 150 miles south from where his vehicle was located on July 26, 2020." A witness at the gas station reportedly saw a man matching Davante's description "get into the passenger side of his Jeep while a white female got into the driver's seat." The vehicle was found abandoned the following day.

The Big Horn County Sheriff's office has searched the area where Davante's vehicle was found with K9s, drones, and helicopters, but no clues have been found. The sheriff's office is collaborating with both the DC Metropolitan Police and the FBI in the search for Davante. Unfortunately, he still remains missing today.

If you have any information that could lead to Davante's whereabouts, please submit a tip.

The Murder of Alkia Rodgers

source: wcnc.com

Alkia Rodgers was found brutally murdered at the age of 18 on May 22nd, 2003. The teen girl left her family's Charlotte, North Carolina home the previous evening to meet up with the father of her infant son at Southside Park. Alkia never returned home, and her family later reported her missing.

The following day, children playing on Southside Park's playground made a gruesome discovery at the top of the slide: the body of a teenage girl. That teenage girl was later identified as Alkia Rodgers. An autopsy later confirmed that Alkia's throat had been slit, and she had also been strangled.

Southside Park is located just 1,000 feet away from Alkia's residence. She often took her infant son to the park to play. The park was also established as a meet-up spot between Alkia and her son's father, as he would often bring "diapers, food, and other things" to the park for Alkia to bring back home to their child.

According to reports, Alkia planned to meet up with her son's father at the park that evening so he could give her diapers for their son. Due to this, her son's father immediately became a suspect after Alkia was found murdered at their meet-up spot. In 2019, cold case detective Ed Williams told reporters that Alkia's son's father was "questioned extensively, but nothing has ever been proven." Detective Williams maintained that he is still a suspect, but there are "lots of people" who are still suspects as well.

However, DNA that was collected from the scene reportedly does not match Alkia's son's father. At this time, it does not appear that detectives have made a match of the DNA to any person who has been investigated for Alkia's murder. It also does not appear that the DNA matches anyone in their database.

Despite this, investigators are confident that Alkia's murder was not random; that she likely knew her killer. Detective Williams specifically noted that the way in which Alkia was savagely killed indicates that her death was personal. He explained, "Usually when someone is strangled like that and cut in [the] throat, it's usually people that know each other."

Over two decades have passed, and Alkia's murder still remains unsolved. Both Alkia's family members and investigators hope that somebody with information about Alkia's murder will come forward. If you have any information that could help the investigation, please CMPD's Cold Case Unit at 704-336-2358.

The Murder of Shannon Steele

source: al.com

Shannon Steele was murdered at the age of 29 on December 28th, 2017. The young woman lived in Demopolis, Alabama at the time of her death. Shannon was found deceased inside the residence that she shared with her young children. She had been shot to death by her killer(s).

Police went to Shannon's residence shortly after 3:10 PM on the day of her murder. According to reports, an officer went to the apartment on Queensbury Lane to "serve papers to someone there." The officer unexpectedly encountered a 4-year-old boy at the residence, who said that someone killed his mother.

Police subsequently entered the home and found Shannon's body in a back bedroom. It was determined that she had been fatally shot. It also appeared that her murder occurred in front of her two youngest children: her 4-year-old son, who led police to his mother's body, and her 4-month-old daughter, who was found physically unharmed in that same back bedroom. Shannon's two older children were not home at the time of the killing.

Years have passed, and Shannon's murder remains unsolved. Her children and several other loved ones are left without answers. Shannon had spent the Christmas holiday with her family just days before her murder. Her family members never expected that the holiday celebration would be the last time they'd see Shannon alive.

There is very little information available about the investigation into Shannon's murder. In 2020, WVUA 23 reported that that a total of $20,000 is available for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of her killer(s). If you have any information that could help the investigation, please contact Demopolis Police Department at (334) 289-3073 or the DPD Tip Line at (334) 216-4077.

The Abduction & Murder of Holly Bobo

Holly Bobo was kidnapped from her family's home in Darden, Tennessee on the morning of April 13th, 2011. The then-20-year-old was a nursing student, and she spent the morning of April 13th studying for an exam. Shortly after 7:30 AM, Holly exited the house to drive to class. Before she could even get into her car, she was intercepted by a man wearing camouflage. Holly was then led into the woods by this man. She was never seen alive by her family and friends again.

Holly's abduction was witnessed by her older brother, Clint Bobo. Clint was awoken that morning by the sound of dogs barking. He looked out the window and saw Holly and the man in camouflage kneeling in the home's carport. Clint was initially not worried, as he thought the man was Holly's boyfriend, Drew Scott. It appeared that the two of them were arguing, and Clint thought that Holly and Drew were breaking up.

A few minutes later, Clint spoke on the phone to their mother, Karen Bobo. A neighbor had called Karen at work to tell her that she had heard screams coming from their residence. Karen asked Clint if he had heard anything, and he said he hadn't.

At that point, Holly and the man in camouflage were walking towards the woods. Clint mentioned this to Karen - to which Karen replied, "Clint, that's not Drew. Get a gun and shoot him." Confused, Clint replied, "You want me to shoot Drew?" Karen was aware that the man with Holly was not Drew because Drew had gone to Karen's mother's property that morning to hunt for turkeys. Clint, both groggy and confused, was unaware of Drew's plans that morning.

By the time Karen and Clint hung up, Holly and the camouflaged man had disappeared into the woods. Karen immediately called 911 to report her daughter's kidnapping-but she reached a dispatcher in the wrong county because she called from her workplace. Karen then called Clint back and told him to call 911.

Police arrived at the Bobo residence ten minutes later. It was then noticed that there was a drop of blood in the carport in the same spot where Holly and the camouflaged man were kneeling. After this discovery, it became clear that Holly had been abducted. Knowing that they were in a race against time, police immediately launched a search for Holly and her kidnapper.

The following day, a team of over 300 people helped search for Holly. Police sent professional teams to search the area surrounding the Bobo residence. Unfortunately, nothing was found.

Then, on April 15th, a team of searchers found Holly's lunchbox and some other personal items in a creek. Other items such as Holly's cell phone, a card from school, and a receipt with her name and address on it were found scattered around town as well. These items unfortunately did not yield any clues to Holly's whereabouts.

It did not take long for rumors about what happened to Holly to circulate. At first, there was a lot of suspicion about Clint. Many questioned how he could have witnessed his sister being abducted without doing anything about it. Some also wondered if Clint had possibly made the abduction story up to cover for himself.

Many people also pointed the finger at a man named Terry Britt - a local sex offender with a rap sheet of convictions including stalking and rape. There was also speculation about a group of men that many locals referred to as the "A-Train" due to all of their last names beginning with the letter A. The group included brothers Zachary and Dylan Adams, and their friends Jason Autry and Shayne Austin. These men were known in the community to be involved with drugs and other illegal activities.

A now-defunct website called Topix included an ever-growing message board discussing Holly's case. People began posting on the message board just hours after the news broke about Holly's kidnapping. Within days of her disappearance, there was speculation about Terry Britt and/or members of the A-Train being possible suspects. Police were also aware of these individuals as potential suspects. Despite this, it would be years before an arrest would finally be made.

In the early stages of the investigation, detectives inevitably wanted to check and re-check Clint's story for any inconsistencies. Clint's version of events remained the same throughout, and detectives eventually eliminated him as a suspect.

As common and many cases, police wanted to question Holly's boyfriend Drew Scott as well. It turned out that he had a solid alibi and was eliminated as well.

Investigating Terry Britt.

After this, investigators turned their attention towards registered sex offenders in the area - namely, Terry Britt.

In 2011, a man named Terry Dicus was the TBI lead investigator assigned to Holly's case. Dicus strongly suspected that Britt was responsible for Holly's disappearance. He noted that Britt matched the description of the kidnapper's height/weight - and Holly matched the description of some of Britt's previous victims. Women who had previously accused Britt of stalking also had blonde hair and blue eyes - just like Holly.

Britt denied involvement in Holly's disappearance and said that he was at home with his wife at the time of Holly's kidnapping. Britt's wife confirmed his alibi, but Dicus questioned it; as Britt's wife had lied for him in the past during his previous criminal cases.

Britt's house was wiretapped and thoroughly searched, but detectives were unable to find any evidence linking him to Holly's kidnapping. Still, Terry Dicus was convinced of Britt's guilt. In 2013, Dicus ended up being removed from the case due to his "tunnel vision" surrounding Britt. Still, Britt was not completely ruled out as a suspect at that point.

Suspicions about the 'A-Train'.

After Dicus was removed from the case, detectives began to look again at the previously mentioned "A-Train". The men in A-Train were questioned early on into the investigation, but they denied involvement in Holly's case - and detectives turned their attention towards Britt after that.

However, the men were also never officially ruled out. There was continuous speculation about them on the Topix website. In fact, one rumor that was consistently being posted was that Shayne Austin had stalked Holly and her friends at a local raccoon hunt just days before her kidnapping. A friend who accompanied Holly to the raccoon hunt described the man who was stalking them, and the description very closely matched Shayne.

Dylan Adams speaks out; his brother is arrested.

In 2013, Dylan Adams was arrested on unrelated weapons charges. While in custody, Dylan told police that he had seen Holly alive at his brother Zachary's house shortly after her abduction. Following this admission, a search warrant was obtained that stated that on April 13th, 2011, "Dylan observed Holly Lynn Bobo sitting in a green chair in the living room wearing a pink t-shirt, with Jason Wayne Autry standing just a few feet away." Dylan also reportedly told police that Zachary raped Holly and videotaped it.

Dylan's confession prompted a massive search at Zachary's property during early 2014. On March 5th, 2014, it was announced that 29-year-old Zachary was being charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and felony first degree murder in Holly's case. In between the time of Zachary's arrest and his arraignment, another charge was added: witness coercion.

The witness coercion charge came about after Zachary allegedly tried to pass a message from his Chester County jail cell to his brother’s jail cell in Obion County. Zach told a fellow inmate, who he believed was being transferred to Obion, to "tell my brother he is the one who started all this shit and if he don’t shut his mouth, he will be in the hole beside her."

Zachary pleaded not guilty to all three charges. Detectives remained adamant that they had the right man behind bars. They also revealed that more arrests were possible in the future. By this point, detectives had not publicly revealed that Dylan's confession had led to Zachary's arrest - but many locals drew their own conclusions after they learned that Zachary had threatened Dylan.

Rumors then began to spread that Dylan was possibly coerced into confessing. Dylan is reportedly developmentally delayed, making him more vulnerable to police coercion. Dylan himself would later recant his confession and state that he was coerced.

It would later be revealed that Dylan's confession actually contradicted much of the physical evidence. Still, by this point, investigators still had enough evidence to press charges against the people implicated by Dylan.

Jason Autry arrested; Shayne Austin investigated.

In April 2014, Jason Autry was arrested and also charged with kidnapping and murdering Holly. Jason also denied harming Holly, and by this point, her remains had still not been found.

Between Zachary and Jason's arrests, Shayne Austin was also being investigated. Cell phone records revealed that Zachary and Shayne had been in contact several times on the day of Holly's abduction. Police believed that Shayne had helped with the disposal of Holly's body.

In March 2014, Shayne was offered immunity in exchange for the location of Holly's remains. However, that offered was eventually rescinded after investigators believed that Shayne was lying to them. Still, Shayne never ended up being arrested in relation with Holly's case - but it was clear that he would likely be called to testify.

Pearcy brothers arrested & then released.

The next set of arrests in the case came in July 2014. At that point, two brothers named Jeff and Mark Pearcy were charged with accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence. These arrests were prompted when Jeff's former roommate Sandra King told police that during May 2014, Jeff had shown her part of a video of Zachary Adams assaulting Holly.

The Pearcy Brothers.

Both brothers denied that such a video existed. Detective analyzed over 20 cell phones, but they were unable to find any evidence of this video. The charges against the Pearcy brothers were eventually dropped, and investigators stopped pursuing the brothers as suspects.

Holly's remains found.

By the time the Pearcy brothers were released, rumors began to spread that the TBI was on a "wild goose chase" and had falsely arrested their suspects because they felt pressure to solve the case. These rumors were largely due to the fact that Holly's remains had still not been found.

However, this changed in September 2014 when a ginseng hunter spotted partial human remains in a wooded area of north Decatur County. Those remains were later identified as that of Holly Bobo. An autopsy revealed that Holly had been shot in the head. The discovery of Holly's remains helped investigators continue to build their case, especially since they now had concrete physical evidence that Holly had been murdered.

Key witness/potential suspect dies by suicide.

During February 2015, Shayne Austin was found dead in a hotel room in Lexington. His death was ruled a suicide. Shayne's attorney maintained that Shayne was not involved in the abduction or murder of Holly, and that the "witch hunt" for him contributed to his deteriorated mental state.

Jason Autry decides to talk.

In the months leading up to Zachary Adams' trial, Jason Autry decided to cooperate with the investigation. He disclosed the extent of his involvement in Holly's kidnapping and murder and also agreed to testify against Zachary. This was a huge win for the prosecution, as much of their evidence corroborated Jason's version of events.

Zachary's trial began in September 2017. When Jason finally took the stand, he denied being present during Holly's kidnapping. He explained that he went to Shayne Austin's house on the morning of April 13th, 2011, to buy drugs.

Once there, Jason said that he observed Shayne, Zachary, and Dylan disposing of items into a burn barrel. Jason also noticed that Zachary had a body wrapped up in a blanket in the back of his truck. Zachary reportedly told Jason that the person in the blanket was Holly Bobo.

Jason Autry testifying at Zachary Adams' trial.

Jason testified that Zachary asked him to help dispose of Holly's body, to which he agreed.
Zachary and Jason then drove to a spot by the Tennessee River underneath the Interstate 40 bridge. After removing Holly from the back of the truck, the two men reportedly noticed that Holly was still alive. Zachary then shot Holly in the back of the head, killing her.

Jason recalled that the two of them feared that the sound of the gunshot would draw attention to them. Panicked, they placed Holly's body back into the truck and drove off. Jason then stated that Zachary dropped him off at home before disposing of Holly's body elsewhere.

Other evidence presented by the State.

Since Jason claimed he was not present during Holly's kidnapping, the prosecution had to present other evidence to prove that either Zachary, Shayne, or Dylan abducted Holly. The prosecution stated that Shayne was the person whom Clint described as Holly's kidnapper.

Clint reportedly described the kidnapper as 5’10” to 6’ tall and between 180 and 200 pounds. This did not match the description of Zachary or Dylan Adams, who both stand well over 6 feet tall. However, the description was similar to that of Shayne Austin - who also matched the description of the man who was allegedly following Holly and her friend at the local raccoon hunt.

After Holly was kidnapped, it is believed that she was brought to Zachary Adams' truck. A witness testified to seeing his truck driving erratically near the Bobo's street on the morning of Holly's kidnapping. It is then believed that she was driven to a nearby barn owned by Shayne and Jason's grandmother - where she was raped by Zachary, Shayne, and Dylan.

A few other witnesses testified that Zachary implicated himself several times in the case. In addition to the threat Zachary made to put his brother Dylan "in the hole next to her", Zachary also allegedly made a similar threat to his ex-girlfriend, Rebecca Earp. Rebecca testified that during an argument, Zachary "said he would tie me up just like he did Holly Bobo and nobody would ever see me again."

Convictions & sentencings for Zachary and Jason.

On September 22nd, 2017, a jury convicted Zachary Adams on the charges of first-degree murder and especially aggravated kidnapping and rape. The following day, he was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

As a part of his plea deal, Jason Autry pleaded guilty to facilitation of especially aggravated kidnapping and solicitation to commit first-degree murder. He was sentenced to eight years but received credit for time already served. Jason finished his sentence in December 2020 and was released but has since been arrested again on unrelated charges.

Conviction & sentence for Dylan Adams.

In January 2018, Dylan Adams entered an Alford plea and was convicted for facilitating first-degree murder and especially aggravated kidnapping. He was sentenced to 35 years in prison. The Alford plea indicates that Dylan maintains his innocence but acknowledges that the prosecution had enough evidence for a jury to convict.

Conflicting feelings between the family & community post-conviction.

Holly's family members were pleased with the outcome of Zachary's trial and the subsequent guilty convictions that followed. However, there are still many who believe that the wrong men are behind bars. In fact, Terry Dicus still believes that Terry Britt was the one responsible for Holly's abduction and murder. Dicus actually testified for the defense at Zachary's trial and maintained his belief that Britt is the prime suspect.

On the ten-year anniversary of Holly's abduction, her family released a statement thanking investigators, prosecutors, and the media for their dedication to solving Holly's case. The statement can be read in full here.

A 2024 UPDATE.

In February 2024, it was announced that Jason Autry has recanted his entire testimony from Zach Adams' trial. According to court documents, Jason Autry claimed his attorney told him he was "95% sure he would be convicted" if he went to trial. As such, the documents state that Jason decided to fabricate his testimony to avoid life in prison.

The documents also state that while on the stand, Jason recounted his day and simply "added Holly to it." At this time, it is unclear if Zachary Adams will get a new trial. Updates will be provided if/when they become available.
