List Series: Missing & Pregnant

It is devastating and scary when a loved one goes missing--even more so when the missing person is pregnant, because that leads to worries about the safety of two lives. I've covered many cases about women who have unfortunately gone missing while pregnant. Some of these cases have POIs, and some remain a complete mystery. Below is a list of 10 cases involving women who were pregnant at the time of their disappearance. Links to the full posts are provided as well.

10. Bianca Green

24 year-old Bianca Green was pregnant with her second child when she vanished on March 25th, 2011. She was last seen near her workplace in Inkster, Michigan. Bianca reportedly texted her mother two days later, however she never returned home and has never been seen or heard from again. Her credit cards, bank accounts, and social media accounts have not been accessed since she was last seen. Additionally, Bianca never showed up for any of her ultrasound appointments and her family does not believe she would voluntarily stay out-of-touch. Investigators have not publicly identified any persons of interest in Bianca's case and the fate of both her and her unborn child remain unknown. Today, Bianca's child would be 10 years old. 9. Janteyl Johnson

Janteyl Johnson was only 15 years-old when she vanished on February 3rd, 2010. The teen was reportedly pregnant by a 27 year-old man at the time. On the day she vanished, Janteyl left her Newark, Delaware high school early because she was not feeling well. Janteyl's brother was supposed to pick her up at their apartment after she arrived there, however when he showed up, Janteyl was nowhere to be found. Cell phone records revealed that her last phone call was from the 27 year-old man who impregnated her. He has not been named as a suspect at this time, however investigators have noted that he has stopped cooperating with police. Despite this, though, police also theorized that Janteyl might have run away with another older man. It is unclear if there is any hard evidence of this, and her family does not believe she is voluntarily missing. Janteyl's child would be 11 years old today. [read more]

8. Bethany Decker

21 year-old Bethany Decker was five months pregnant with her second child when she vanished on January 29th, 2011. Bethany was married to US soldier Emile Decker at the time, however the paternity of her second child remains unclear--as Bethany was also having an affair with a man named Ronald Roldon. Despite the affair, Bethany and Emile were both open to working on their marriage, and the two took a trip to Hawaii together in the weeks prior to her disappearance. Emile reportedly saw Bethany for the last time on the morning of January 29th at his family's home in Maryland. Bethany returned to her Ashburn, Virginia home after that and was never seen or heard from again. Emile returned to deployment in Afghanistan on February 2nd, 2011, and Bethany never showed up at the airport to send him off. She also stopped showing up for her college classes and for her job. After weeks of being unable to get ahold of her, Bethany was reported missing by her family members on February 19th, 2011.

Bethany's family has always suspected that Bethany's boyfriend, Ronald Roldon, had something to do with her disappearance. Bethany confided to her mother that Ronald was abusive and she wanted to leave him once and for all. Ronald claims that he saw Bethany at her apartment on the afternoon of January 29th, but never saw her again after he went back home. It is unclear if investigators believe him, but he has not been charged with anything related to her disappearance. However, Ronald was arrested in 2014 and charged with felony assault on his new girlfriend. He currently remains behind bars for those charges. Bethany remains missing. Her child would be 9 years old today. [read more]

7. Elizabeth Hernandez

Elizabeth Hernandez (29) was four months pregnant with her third child when she vanished on November 15th, 2017. She was last known to be seen by her boyfriend/father of her unborn child, Miguel Martinez. Miguel said that he dropped Elizabeth off at the Department of Human Services in Albuquerque, New Mexico on the day she was last seen. Elizabeth never checked in at the office and never returned home. She has never been seen or heard from again. Elizabeth's family members strongly suspect that Miguel is responsible for her disappearance--he reportedly did not want their unborn child and was angry about her pregnancy. Despite this, investigators have not named Miguel as a suspect in the case; although they have stated that they believe foul play is responsible for Elizabeth's disappearance. Elizabeth's child would be around two years old today. [read more]

6. Morgan Martin

Morgan Martin was only 17 years-old when she vanished on July 25th, 2012. She was four months pregnant at the time, and although she was very young, she was looking forward to being a mother. Morgan claimed the father of her child was 24 year-old Jacobee Flowers. On the night of Morgan's disappearance, she stepped out of her family's St. Petersburg, Florida home after telling her mother she wanted to show Jacobee an sonogram picture of the baby. Morgan never returned inside and has never been seen or heard from again. Her purse and sonogram picture were both found on the family's front porch. Jacobee denied any involvement in Morgan's disappearance; he actually denied being involved with Morgan at all. He claimed they were just acquaintances. However, his cell phone records prove that this was untrue. In fact, Jacobee reportedly sent Morgan several messages urging her to end the pregnancy, as he was already paying child support for other children and he did not want to have to do so for an additional child. Morgan reportedly threatened to report him for having sex with her while underaged if he did not pay child support. From there, investigators were able to pull together a motive: not only did Jacobee not want to support another child, he also did not want to get charged with statutory rape. In 2016, Jacobee was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in Morgan's case. He continues to deny harming Morgan, and Morgan's remains have never been found. Jacobee remains behind bars as his case is pending. Morgan's child would be six years old today. [read more]

Lucero 'Princess' Sabaria was eight months pregnant when she vanished on November 26th, 2004.  The 21 year-old woman was last seen after she left a party with a man named Richard Anthony Chabes Jr. Chabes offered to drive Princess to her family's home in San Antonio, Texas. In fact, Princess called her mother shortly after leaving the party and said that she was at Chabes' apartment and that he was going to drive her home sometime soon. Unfortunately, Princess never returned home and has never been seen or heard from again. Her family members reported her missing later that day, and police were able to track down Chabes for questioning. He told police that around 6am, Princess decided to walk home from his apartment, which was a mile and a half away from her home, rather than have him drive her. Just a few days later, Chabes abruptly packed up all of his belongings and moved out of his apartment. Investigators searched the place and found blood on the walls and carpet, but not enough blood to indicate a fatal injury. It is unclear if forensic testing has been on the blood. Despite all of this, Chabes has ultimately been cleared as a suspect in Princess' disappearance. Princess remains missing today. Her child would be 15 years old today. [read more]

21 year-old Kelsie Schelling had just recently learned she was pregnant when she disappeared from Pueblo, Colorado on February 5th, 2013. On the previous day, Kelsie went to a doctor’s appointment near her home in Denver where she got her first ultrasound. After the appointment, she sent a picture of the ultrasound to her boyfriend/father of her child, Donthe Lucas. Donthe urged Kelsie to go visit him in Pueblo, which is two hours from where Kelsie was living. Kelsie left around 8:30pm that night to make the drive to see Donthe and arrived at a Wal-Mart that they agreed to meet at around 11pm. Kelsie never returned home and has never been seen or heard from again.

Surveillance cameras from various places around Pueblo captured Donthe driving Kelsie's car to several different locations between the dates of February 5th and February 7th. He was also captured using Kelsie's ATM card. Donthe would later tell investigators that he was accompanied by Kelsie and had permission to use her ATM card, however the surveillance footage does not show Kelsie in the car with him at any location. Despite this evidence, it took years for investigators to bring charges against Donthe, and he continued to deny involvement.

In November 2017, while Donthe was already behind bars on robbery charges, he was charged with Kelsie's murder in the first degree. He was found guilty in 2021. Kelsie's remains have not been found. [read more]
