Janteyl Johnson vanished from her family’s home in Newark, Delaware on February 3rd, 2010. The then-15-year-old was pregnant at the time of her disappearance. Janteyl went to school the day she vanished but ended up leaving early because did not feel well.
After leaving school, Janteyl reportedly returned to her family’s apartment on Winterhaven Drive. However, when her brother went by later to pick her up, Janteyl was nowhere to be found. All of her personal belongings were left behind and the door to the apartment was left unlocked. Janteyl’s family members believe that Janteyl left the apartment that afternoon with the intention of returning quickly, but something prevented her from returning. When she did not return by 10PM, she was reported missing.
Cell phone records revealed that the last phone call Janteyl received was from a 27-year-old man; the father of her unborn child. This man’s name has not been publicly revealed, but police have interviewed him and have not labeled him as a suspect in the case—but he has not been cleared, either. He reportedly has stopped cooperating with investigators.
Janteyl’s family members do not believe she is missing on her own accord. Her family was reportedly supportive of her pregnancy, and they do not believe she would intentionally keep her baby from them.
