RESOLVED IN NORTH CAROLINA:

Name: Denita Smith (25)

Case type: Murder; shooting.

 

Date: January 4th, 2007

Location: Greensboro, NC

Arrest made: January 9th, 2007

Outcome: Shannon Crawley was found guilty of the first-degree murder of Denita Smith on February 22nd, 2010. The judge immediately sentenced Crawley to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Name: Danielle Locklear (15)

Case type: Disappearance and murder

 

Missing: March 11th, 2014

Body found: April 2nd, 2014

Arrest made: April 9th, 2014

Outcome: Danielle's ex-boyfriend, Je'Michael Malloy, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2016. He was sentenced to 25-31 years in prison and currently has a projected release for 2042. Dominic Long pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact and was sentenced to 6-8 years in prison.

Name: Lauren Hugelmaier (29)

Case type: Murder; stabbing.

 

Date: September 28th, 2017

Location: Raleigh, NC

Arrest made: Next day.

Outcome: Lauren's husband, Matthew Phelps, accepted a plea deal in 2018 and pleaded guilty to first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
