The Kidnapping & Murder of Christina Morris

Hours before the above photos were taken, Christina Morris met with some friends in Plano, Texas to go out for drinks. Afterwards, the group went back to Christina's friend Paulina Petrosky’s apartment to continue hanging out. Around 3:30am, Christina and 24-year-old Enrique Arochi left Paulina’s apartment at the same time to head to their respective cars that were parked in a nearby garage. The two were caught by surveillance cameras (as pictured above) walking together towards the parking garage. 

A couple minutes later, surveillance cameras captured Enrique’s car exiting the garage, but Christina’s remained inside. Christina never made it home after that and has not been seen or heard from since. She was reported missing by her father a few days later on September 2nd, 2014.

When questioned by police, Enrique said that he and Christina walked into separate garages after leaving Paulina’s apartment. However, the surveillance footage proved that was not true. The police interviewed Enrique several times over the next few months, and they also seized his vehicle for forensic testing. 

Police also interviewed some of Christina and Enrique’s mutual friends, and some of Enrique’s co-workers. One of the mutual friends was Sabrina Boss. Sabrina was amongst the group of friends who went out the night of August 29th, and she told police that Enrique angrily left Paulina’s apartment that night after she rejected his advances. Christina just happened to leave at the same time. Enrique’s co-workers told police that Enrique showed up to work late the morning of the 30th, and when he did arrive, he was covered in bruises and looked like he had gotten into a fight.

On December 9th, 2014, the test results on his car came back. It was determined that a significant amount of Christina’s DNA was present on the edge of the vehicle’s trunk opening. Enrique was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping.

Enrique went to trial in September 2016, almost two years after his arrest. He was ultimately found guilty of aggravated kidnapping and sentenced to life in prison. However, Enrique still maintained his innocence and Christina remained missing. 

That all changed in March 2018. Police announced on Wednesday, March 7th, 2018 that remains were found in a field in Anna, Texas–an area close to Christina’s final cell phone ping. Days later, those remains were identified as Christina’s. The area had been the focus of previous unsuccessful searches for her over the years; yet she was finally found by workers who stumbled upon her remains while they were clearing the area. 

At this time, it is still unclear whether or not Enrique will be charged for murder. The last time he publicly spoke about the case was in December 2016. Despite having been convicted for Christina’s kidnapping, Enrique still denied any involvement in her disappearance. In an exclusive interview for the Dallas News, Enrique told reporters, “I hope she’s alive.” However, the location where Christina’s remains were found seem to further support Enrique’s guilt, since his cell phone also pinged off the tower closest to where Christina was found around the same exact time as Christina’s final cell phone ping.
