The Murder of Jade Benning and her unborn child

 

Jade Benning was only 24 years-old when her life was tragically taken on February 25th, 2023. The young woman had a bright future ahead of her prior to her untimely death. Jade was living in Nashville, Tennessee, where she worked as a chef and caterer. She was also expecting her first child; a little girl she planned to name Ivy.

According to friends and family, Jade was looking forward to becoming a mother. However, the father of Jade's child, Blaise Taylor, was not happy about the pregnancy. Jade and Blaise had met on a dating app in August 2022 and had only been dating for a few weeks at the time the baby was conceived. 

When Taylor learned that Jade was pregnant, he told her that he wanted her to get an abortion. At the time, Blaise worked as a professional scout for the Tennessee Titans and expressed that he was not ready to become a father. When Jade decided that she was not going to terminate the pregnancy, Blaise began to distance himself from their relationship. 

Jade was understandably hurt by Blaise's coldness, but she continued to move forward. She maintained excitement about having a baby, especially when she learned that she was having a girl. Jade was seemingly prepared to be a single mother, although she hoped Blaise would be a part of their daughter's life.

By February 2023, it appeared that Blaise was finally coming around. He told Jade that he was interested in rekindling their relationship. On the evening of February 25th, Jade and Blaise had a date night at Jade's residence, during which they painted canvases intended for the baby's room. Jade initially believed this date night would mark a new beginning for the couple and their growing family. However, just a few hours later, she would come to realize that this was not the case.

The night of February 25th, 2023.

As noted above, the evening of February 25th, 2023, began on a positive note for Jade. Blaise came to her residence, where the two of them ate baked goods and painted canvases for the baby's room.

A couple of Jade's friends stopped by Jade's residence during the date night. One of them noticed that Jade had painted a fun and colorful canvas for her daughter's room, while Blaise had painted what appeared to be a black hole. Other than that, though, Jade's friends did not notice anything unusual or worrisome during their visits. 

A few hours later, the tide changed. One of the friends, Nijaiha Jackson, received a phone call from Jade - during which Jade sounded extremely distressed. Nijaiha stayed on the line as she listened to Jade speaking to Blaise. She heard Jade asking Blaise questions such as "What did you do? What did you put in my drink?". Jade also made the statements "I can't walk straight", "I knew my drink tasted funny", "Blaise, you're scaring me", and "You did this so something would happen to the baby."

Shortly before 9:40 PM, Blaise called 911 and said that Jade was having an allergic reaction to something. By time paramedics arrived, Jade was unconscious in her bed. CPR and other live-saving measures were attempted at the residence. Around the same time, Nijaiha rushed over to the home to see what had happened to Jade. The first responders noted that Nijaiha was extremely upset and worried about Jade, while Blaise did not seem nearly as frantic about the state of his girlfriend and their unborn child.

Jade was eventually transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where it was determined that she had a severe brain injury after suffering from cardiac arrest. By this point, she was in a coma and placed on life support.

The deaths.

On February 27th, 2023, while Jade was still on life support, it was determined that her unborn daughter, Ivy, had died at approximately five months gestation. Medical examiners noted that the baby died as a direct result of the medical emergency that Jade had experienced. The cardiac arrest that Jade had suffered from caused a lack of oxygenated blood to flow to her organs, including her brain, uterus and placenta. The baby unfortunately did not survive from the period of lost oxygen.

Jade stayed alive, but on life support, for the next several days. By March 6th, 2023, after she had still not regained consciousness, she was taken off life support and subsequently passed away. 

The investigation.

Following the deaths of Jade and her unborn child, investigators in Nashville were tasked with finding out what caused their demise. Over the following year, evidence was collected from toxicology reports, digital evidence, and witness statements. The evidence collected led investigators to believe that the deaths of Jade and her baby were not the result of a tragic unexpected medical emergency; something more sinister had occurred.

The toxicology report indicated that Jade had a high level of cocaine in her system. Investigators also learned via both digital evidence and witness statements that Blaise Taylor was not thrilled about Jade's pregnancy. Jade's friends and family were interviewed by detectives, and they also corroborated Blaise's disdain about the pregnancy. Additionally, Nijaiha Jackson told investigators about the disturbing phone call she had with Jade shortly before Jade went unconscious, during which Jade accused Blaise of putting something in her drink.

Investigators also learned that Jade's pregnancy was not the first unwanted pregnancy that Blaise Taylor had experienced. During 2017, he conceived a child with a woman he was dating named Apple Dennie. Apple revealed that Blaise wanted her to get an abortion, and she ultimately ended up terminating the pregnancy.

Apple also shared that, while she and Blaise were taking a break from their relationship, he got another woman pregnant. Blaise told Apple that he was upset about this woman's pregnancy. He asked Apple if she could obtain abortion pills so Blaise could "make her take them or put them into her drink." Apple refused and said that Blaise began researching online ways to induce abortion. Blaise also asked her what other things could be put in a drink to end the pregnancy.

The other woman ultimately ended up getting an abortion as well. Years passed before Blaise met Jade and conceived a child with her, but it appeared that he was still not ready to become a father at that time, either. The experiences that Blaise had with the other women showed a pattern that Blaise had been following regarding unwanted pregnancies. Blaise's desire to end the second woman's pregnancy by slipping something into her drink also raised eyebrows when it came to Jade's case - especially since Jade had accused him of putting something into her drink as well.

A year after Jade's death, in March 2024, a Davidson County grand jury indicted Blaise Taylor on two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of felony murder. He was arrested in Utah and subsequently extradited back to Tennessee. The following month, a judge set Blaise's bond at $2.5 million. He ended up posting that bond and was released with supervision while he awaited trial. 

June 2026: the trial. 

Blaise Taylor's trial began in June 2026. During the trial, prosecutors described their belief that Blaise had put a large amount of cocaine into Jade's pink lemonade drink without Jade's knowledge. After drinking it, Jade began to feel ill and eventually collapsed into cardiac arrest and unconsciousness. As previously noted, both Jade and her unborn child died as a result. Prosecutors stated that Blaise's motive was to end Jade's pregnancy.

During the trial, Nijaiha Jackson testified about that final phone call she had with Jade. Apple Dennie testified about her pregnancy with Blaise, and the pregnancy with the other woman - including the piece about his desire to end her pregnancy by placing something into her drink. Testimony from digital evidence, toxicology reports, and medical experts was presented to the jury as well.

Blaise's defense team maintained his innocence. The defense argued about the credibility of some of the witness testimony. They also argued that Jade's death was caused by her own voluntary cocaine use. However, friends and family of Jade noted that they do not believe she would voluntarily use harmful substances while pregnant.

July 1st, 2026: the verdict.

After an approximate eight-day trial, the jury began deliberating. They ultimately returned the following verdicts:

• Guilty of the second-degree murder of Jade.
  Guilty of first-degree felony murder of Jade.
• Guilty of the first-degree murder of their unborn daughter.
• Guilty of the first-degree felony murder of their unborn daughter.

September 2026: Sentencing.

Blaise Taylor was given two life sentences in September of 2026. He remains incarcerated in Tennessee.

The Murders of Christine Banfield and Joseph Ryan

 

On the morning of February 24th, 2023, police in Fairfax County, Virginia responded to a home in Herndon after receiving a call about a stabbing and a shooting. When officers arrived at the residence, they stumbled upon a horrific scene in the master bedroom. Joseph Ryan (pictured top right) was found deceased from multiple gunshots in the corner of the room. Christine Banfield (pictured top left) was in bed, suffering from multiple stab wounds. 

Joseph was pronounced dead on the scene, while Christine was transferred to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter. Detectives were subsequently tasked with investigating what could have led to such a violent scene in this quiet Herndon neighborhood. 

It was soon learned that the home where this event took place belonged to Christine Banfield and her husband, Brendan Banfield (pictured bottom left). The couple lived there with their daughter, who was four years old at the time, and their au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhães (pictured bottom right).

Per the initial narrative provided by Brendan and Juliana, the morning of February 24th was supposed to be a normal day. Juliana had plans to take the Banfield's daughter to the zoo in Washington, DC. Christine, who worked as a nurse, had the day off and planned to sleep in. Juliana told police that, shortly after leaving the house with the Banfield's daughter, she realized she forgot their lunches and turned around to go back and retrieve them. 

Upon their return to the house, Juliana noticed a "strange vehicle" in the driveway. She called Brendan, who was picking up breakfast at a nearby McDonald's. Brendan raced home and instructed Juliana to bring his daughter into the home's basement. Juliana complied, then both she and Brendan ran upstairs into the master bedroom. 

Both Brendan and Juliana said that they saw a man, later identified as Joseph Ryan, standing over Christine with a knife. Brendan reportedly drew a gun and ordered Joseph to drop the knife. According to Brendan and Juliana, Joseph did not comply and instead began stabbing Christine. Brendan then shot Joseph, causing him to collapse in the corner of the bedroom. 

Brendan then said he began to provide aid to his wife while also calling 911. A short time later, Brendan noticed that Joseph was still alive. He said that he was afraid Joseph would get up and continue attacking, so he ordered Juliana to shoot Joseph again. Juliana followed Brendan's orders and delivered the final shots that ended Joseph's life.

The story that Brendan and Juliana told made it appear as if they were forced to act in self-defense after encountering a home intruder who had attacked Christine with a knife. However, as detectives continued to investigate, they learned that Brendan and Juliana were far from innocent victims who happened to stumble upon a violent scene.

More about Brendan and Christine.

Brendan Banfield and Christine Benson met while they were both students at Quinnipiac University in New York. The couple married a few years after graduating and settled into a home in Shirley, NY. In 2018, Christine gave birth to their daughter, Valerie. 

The Banfield family moved to Herndon, Virginia in 2019 after Brendan accepted a job as an IRS investigator. Christine began working at a local hospital as a pediatric ICU nurse. Since both of them worked full time, they decided to hire an au pair to help them care for their daughter.

Brendan and Christine opted to use an au pair program called "Cultural Care Au Pair" to find care of Valerie. The first au pair they hired was a young woman from South America named Amanda.

The relationship between Amanda and the Banfield family blossomed very quickly. Amanda and Valerie grew a very tight bond. Amanda and Christine developed a close friendship. The family remained in touch with Amanda after her contract ended. In fact, both Christine and Valerie attended Amanda's wedding - Valerie participated as the flower girl.

The Banfield's experience with Amanda and the Cultural Care Au Pair program was a success. As such, they used the same program to find their next au pair. Juliana Peres Magalhães began working for the family in October 2021. Originally from Brazil, Juliana moved to Herndon, Virginia to live at the Banfield home and care for the couple's daughter.

The affair.

During the summer of 2022, a sexual relationship began between Brendan Banfield and Juliana. The relationship soon grew beyond just sexual; the two eventually began a full-blown affair. Juliana began taking trips with Brendan and Valerie without Christine. Juliana documented parts of their relationship on her Instagram page.

This was not Brendan's first time cheating on Christine. He reportedly had other affairs throughout the marriage. Some reports indicate that Christine was aware of at least one of the previous affairs. However, it appears she was left completely in the dark about Brendan's affair with their au pair. 

Although Juliana and Brendan hid the affair from Christine, Juliana did not hide the relationship from her social media. She shared pictures of her with Brendan on Instagram. Friends of Juliana were well aware of her relationship with the married man.

According to Juliana, Brendan eventually began expressing that he wanted Christine out of the picture. He reportedly claimed that Christine was lazy, inattentive, and not a good mother to Valerie. Brendan also claimed that divorce was not an option; citing financial reasons as his justification to not split up from Christine. From there, Brendan and Juliana began conducting a plan to remove Christine from their lives. 

January 2023: The FetLife account & a trip to a gun range.

During January 2023, Brendan and Juliana created an account on the fetish dating website called FetLife. They made the account under Christine's name and began communicating with users while pretending to be Christine. It was on FetLife that the two began communicating with a user later identified as Joseph Ryan.

Joseph Ryan was a resident of Woodbridge, Virginia. He enjoyed live action roleplaying and spending time with his family members. Joseph also was a seasoned user of the FetLife site. Brendan and Juliana connected with Joseph on the website while pretending to be Christine. During their conversations, they arranged for Joseph to come to the Banfield home to engage in "knife play" and a "rape fantasy". 

Joseph reportedly asked "Christine" if they could meet up in person in a casual setting before this sexual tryst. Knowing this would blow their cover, Brendan and Juliana (while pretending to be Christine) insisted that their first meeting be an encounter in which Joseph enters the Banfield home with a knife. "Christine" said she would pretend to be scared and fight back, but asked Joseph to ignore her cries for help. 

Unbeknownst to Joseph, he was not communicating with Christine, or with anyone who wished to engage in these sexual activities. Joseph was unfortunately just a pawn in Brendan and Juliana's plan. Their plan was to make it appear as if Christine was killed by Joseph, and that one of them ended up killing Joseph in an attempt to stop the attack and/or self-defense. 

As an IRS officer, Brendan already had experience with handling/using a firearm. Juliana, on the other hand, was not experienced with guns. Brendan and Juliana subsequently visited a shooting range in late January 2023 so Juliana could learn to use a gun. Juliana documented this outing on her Instagram account. 

February 24th, 2023: the day of the murders.

On February 24th, 2023, the plan concocted by Brendan and Juliana was put into motion. As noted above, Christine had the day off from work that day and planned to sleep in while Juliana took the Banfield's daughter to the zoo. Juliana would later tell authorities that, shortly after leaving the home, she realized she forgot a packed lunch for both her and Valerie. She turned around to go retrieve the lunches and when she got back to the house, she noticed a "strange vehicle" - later identified as Joseph Ryan's vehicle - in the Banfield driveway. 

Per Juliana's account, she called Brendan, who was at a nearby McDonald's, to tell him that an unknown car was parked at his house. Brendan then rushed home from McDonald's. He asked Juliana to bring Valerie into the home's basement. As previously stated, Juliana complied with his request and left the little girl in the basement before venturing up to the master bedroom.

It was initially reported that Brendan had stumbled upon Joseph Ryan stabbing his wife, and that Brendan subsequently shot Joseph in an attempt to stop the attack. While rendering aid to Christine, Brendan noticed that Joseph was still alive, so he asked Juliana to shoot him again. Juliana complied and fired the shots that ultimately ended up killing Joseph. 

Both Brendan and Juliana told police that it was already too late for Christine - the stab wounds had been fatal, and she ended up dying at the hospital shortly after the attack. Body cameras worn by police on the scene captured Juliana relaying this narrative to the officers outside the Banfield home.

The aftermath.

Loved ones of both Christine Banfield and Joseph Ryan were both devastated and baffled by this event. Christine's friends and family members thought that it was completely uncharacteristic for her to be unfaithful to her husband; let alone with a person she met on a fetish website. No one in Christine's circle believed she would use a website such as FetLife either. 

Joseph Ryan did not have any criminal record or any known history of violent behaviors. The investigation revealed that he had met several people from the FetLife website, but none of those encounters resulted in one being seriously injured or killed. 

Meanwhile, both Brendan and Juliana seemed to quickly move on from this tragic event. Juliana eventually moved into the master bedroom at the Banfield's house. Christine's clothes and belongings were soon replaced by Juliana's clothes and belongings. A picture of Brendan and Juliana was placed on the bedside table. Juliana told Christine's daughter, Valerie, that she could call Juliana "mommy". 

The investigation and arrests.

Investigators were suspicious of the story told by Brendan and Juliana from the onset of the case. Those suspicions were further deepened when investigators learned that Brendan and Juliana were in a relationship that began before Christine's death. In the months that followed this event, detectives continued to investigate both Brendan and Juliana. 

On October 19, 2023, Juliana was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. She was taken into custody, where she remained while her charges were pending. Brendan's mother hired a lawyer for Juliana. Juliana remained in contact with Brendan for several months while behind bars. 

Brendan remained a free man for nearly a year after Juliana's arrest. Then, on September 19th, 2024, he was finally taken into custody and charged with four counts of aggravated murder and one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony for the deaths of both Christine Banfield and Joseph Ryan.

Juliana pleads guilty.

After denying the charges for about a year, Juliana decided to cooperate with the investigation. On October 29th, 2024 - approximately a month and a half after Brendan's arrest - Juliana accepted a plea deal and agreed to plead guilty to manslaughter for shooting and killing Joseph Ryan. As part of her plea deal, Juliana agreed to disclose what actually happened on the day of the murders. She also agreed to testify against Brendan at his trial.

At this time, Juliana confessed to investigators that both she and Brendan created the FetLife account and communicated with Joseph Ryan while pretending to be Christine. She admitted that she and Brendan set this event up in hopes of covering up their real plan to get Christine out of the picture.

During this confession, Juliana shared the most chilling detail of all: Joseph Ryan had not stabbed Christine. In fact, Joseph had already been shot when Brendan took Joseph's knife and stabbed his wife to death. Juliana admitted that she watched these events unfold - and this version events had been their plan all along.

Meanwhile, Brendan denied this version of events and continued to maintain his innocence. He pleaded not guilty, and his case went to trial.

January-February 2026: Brendan Banfield's trial.

Brendan Banfield's trial began in January 2026. As arranged in her plea deal, Juliana testified for the prosecution at the trial. While on the stand, she confirmed that she was having an affair with Brendan while serving as the Banfield's au pair.

Juliana testified about Brendan's desire to rid Christine from his life. She admitted that she and Brendan used Christine's computer to create the FetLife account, and that Christine herself never actually communicated with anyone on the website. Juliana continued to explain how their murder plot came to fruition, resulting in the deaths of both Joseph Ryan and Christine Banfield. 

Brendan himself eventually testified in his own defense. While on the stand, he continued to deny that he killed Christine. He admitted that both he and Juliana shot Joseph Ryan but maintained that they did so in self-defense. Brendan also admitted to being in an affair with Juliana at the time, but he downplayed the seriousness of their relationship and denied that he wanted his wife out of the picture.

It appears that the jury ultimately did not buy the version of events presented by Brendan on the stand. Deliberations went on for two days before the jury found Brendan Banfield guilty of all counts on February 2nd, 2026. 

Juliana is sentenced. 

As part of Juliana's plea deal, she could receive a minimum of time served and a maximum of 10 years in prison. The judge in the case made the final decision. On February 13th, 2026, the judge gave Juliana the maximum sentence of 10 years, with two of those years suspended.

The judge spoke to Juliana directly at the sentencing, citing ten reasons for handing down the maximum sentence:

"1. Until today, you have shown no empathy for the victim in this case.

 2. You were more involved in the plan than you testified to. First off, there were numerous postings on social media platforms and text platforms, looking for a target, texting and speaking directly with Joseph Ryan, encouraging him to bring the knife, and ultimately through the phone conversation, getting his consent, knowing all along you were bringing him to his death. Lying to Christine, and setting up the plan for the zoo, using her devices and hiding her phone, using a child as a pawn in your plan, waiting outside for Joseph to show up, calling Mr. Banfield to bring him to the scene. And at any point, for at least a month prior to that day, you could have stopped this. The plan did not work without your full involvement.

3. Having the loaded firearm in your pocket.

4. Bringing a child into the basement, knowing two people were about to be murdered, to include the child's mother.

5. Christine asking you to call 911, which you did, and then immediately hung up.

6.  Seeing Joseph Ryan, who was shot in the head at the time, and still moving and walking up to him as he lay moaning on the floor and shooting him point blank in the heart.

7. Watching as Mr. Banfield stabbed Christine over and over again.

8. Waiting 15 minutes before recalling 911 again.

9. Telling a fabricated story for over a year and a half, a story that depicted Joseph Ryan wrongly as a rapist and murderer. An innocent man.

10. Telling the child it was okay for her to call you "mommy" hours after the murder."

Following her sentence, Juliana will be deported back to Brazil.

Brendan Banfield's fate.

In June 2026, Brendan was sentenced to life in prison. At his sentencing, he continued to deny that he killed his wife.

The Murder of Meagan 'Summer' Renee Turner

 

Meagan Renee Turner was only 28 years-old when her life was tragically taken on October 18th, 2023. The young woman, who went by the name Summer, was killed while at a Bubble Zone Carwash in San Antonio, Texas. Summer’s assailants have still not been brought to justice.

According to reports, Summer was vacuuming the backseat of her car when she was approached by three men who fired several rounds into her vehicle. Witnesses saw the men exit a vehicle that had parked near the carwash property before they ran towards Summer’s car and began shooting. Immediately after, the men ran back to their vehicle, which was being driven by another man. The car then fled before police arrived on the scene. 

First responders found Summer lying in the backseat of her car with multiple gunshot wounds on her body. She was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. It was clear that Summer had been murdered, and police soon learned from witnesses about the men who had shot her to death.  However, those men have never been identified or arrested. To this day, Summer’s killer(s) still walk free.

No information about a motive for Summer’s murder has ever been publicly revealed. It’s unknown if she was targeted or if her death was completely random. Investigators have made a public appeal for anyone with information about the three men or the driver of their getaway vehicle to come forward. A monetary reward is available in exchange for information that could lead to the arrest/conviction of Summer’s killers.

The Disappearance of Qiana Allen

 

Qiana Allen has been missing since June 23rd, 2023. The then-39-year-old woman lived in Pontiac, Michigan at the time of her disappearance. Qiana was last known to be at her home on Firelite Lane. She had a scheduled shift at a McDonald’s in Auburn Hills that day, but she never showed up. Qiana has never been seen or heard from again. 

Before vanishing, Qiana spoke on the phone with her mother, who lives in California. Her mother said that Qiana mentioned she was going to her shift at McDonald’s, and that her job was going to send her an Uber or Lyft to take to work because the buses were not running that day. Other than that, nothing seemed unusual about their conversation. 

It’s unknown if Qiana’s job did, in fact, intend to send her a rideshare service. There does not appear to be any witnesses who might have seen Qiana get into a vehicle on the day of her disappearance. It is known that Qiana never arrived at her shift that day, but further circumstances surrounding her disappearance are unclear.

The Disappearance and Murder of Danielle Moss

 

Danielle Moss vanished in Washington, DC on April 9th, 2023. The 32-year-old woman was last seen between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM that day, reportedly at a liquor store near her residence on Q Street. Danielle was supposed to go to her parents’ residence that afternoon to celebrate Easter with her family members. She never showed up, and her loved ones never saw or heard from her again.

Danielle was reported missing on April 11th, 2023, after her family learned that she had not been answering phone calls from Andre Hudson, the father of her son. Danielle’s son was only 3 years old at the time, and he had been with his father on the weekend of Danielle’s disappearance. Family members say that Danielle would never ignore calls regarding her son, nor would she ever voluntarily leave him behind. 

Two months passed without any sign of Danielle. Then, on June 10th, 2023, police in Waldorf, Maryland received a call about a partially covered body that had been spotted in a wooded area near Holly Springs Drive. Days later, authorities announced that the body was that of Danielle Moss. Her death was ruled a homicide, though her exact cause of death has not been disclosed.

Shortly after Danielle’s body was found, police stated that they were speaking to a person of interest. However, years have passed, and no persons of interest or suspects have ever been publicly identified. Reports indicate that Danielle’s family believed she was “involved with some people who didn’t have her best interests in mind”, but they still do not know who would have wanted her dead. Danielle has been described as a dedicated mother who had a good co-parenting relationship with her son’s father. She did not have any known enemies.

The Disappearance of Samson Peters

 

Samson Peters has been missing since July 2023. The then-43-year-old was last seen in Casselberry, Florida - where he was living at the time. Samson usually kept in consistent communication with his children and his significant other, but he abruptly fell out-of-touch on July 18th. Knowing this was unusual, Samson’s worried loved ones contacted police to report his disappearance.

On July 23rd, 2023 - five days after Samson’s last known contact - his vehicle was found parked along State Road 192 near St. Cloud, Florida. According to police, there were no signs of foul play at the scene. However, there were no signs to indicate Samson’s whereabouts either. 

Samson’s ex-wife told News 6 that Samson does not have any ties to the area where his car was found, so it’s unknown why he would drive there. The ex-wife also told reporters that Samson’s family was “concerned for his well-being because [Samson] was dealing with depression and facing eviction before he disappeared.” It’s unknown if investigators believe this plays a role in his disappearance.

The Murder of India Kinamore

 

India Kinamore was murdered inside her Colerain Township, Ohio home during the early morning hours of March 4th, 2023. Police responded to calls about a shooting shortly after 4:30 AM at India’s apartment on Hidden Meadows Drive. Once inside, they found the 26-year-old woman in her bed, deceased from gunshot wounds.

India was nine months pregnant at the time; March 4th was actually her due date, and she was scheduled to be induced. Her unborn child also did not survive. This day was supposed to be a joyous occasion for India and her family - a day they would hopefully celebrate for years to come. Now, it’s a day that marks tragedy for India’s loved ones.

Two years passed without any arrests for the murder of India and her unborn child. Then, in August 2025, Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich announced that three men had been arrested and charged in connection to the case. Amongst those three men was 30-year-old Kayvon Warren - India’s boyfriend and father of her unborn child.

According to the prosecution, Warren did not want India to have his child. Not only was he facing financial hardships, but he was also involved with another woman behind India’s back. At some point, Warren reportedly urged India to get an abortion, but it was too late in her pregnancy for her to do so. The prosecution believes that Warren subsequently enlisted his cousin, Robert Ervin, and Ervin’s half-brother, Lamar Morris Suggs, to help take care of his problem by killing India on the day she was due to give birth.

It’s believed that Ervin, 20, and Suggs, 22, entered the residence that India and Warren shared shortly before 4:30 AM. Once inside, one of them shot India multiple times, while all three men participated in staging the scene to make it look like a robbery. This ruse eventually became unraveled, resulting in the August 2025 arrests of all three men.

Shortly after their arrests, it was revealed that Warren had requested bereavement leave from his job prior to India’s death. The prosecution stated that this detail “underscores the premeditated nature of the crime.” All three men have been charged with first degree murder.

The cases against Warren, Ervin, and Suggs are all currently pending. All three men have pleaded not guilty.
