22 year-old Lindsay Nichols (top left) was starting a new chapter in her life when she was brutally murdered by 45 year-old Timothy Roses (top right) on March 21st, 2012.

That day, Lindsay updated her status on Facebook to announce her relationship with her new boyfriend, Chase Weber. She was finally moving on from a months-long affair she had with Timothy—a married doctor she had met while studying radiology at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. Lindsay ended the affair in February 2012, and Timothy did not take the break-up well. He allegedly sent Lindsay several text messages while trying to win her back, but Lindsay refused and the situation escalated when she updated her relationship status with Chase on March 21st.

Enraged by Lindsay’s new relationship, Timothy then decided to take matters into his own hands. He rented a truck with out-of-state license plates and watched as Chase picked Lindsay up from Waterloo to drive her to his home in Jesup, a town located approximately 15 miles away. Timothy followed Chase and Lindsay all the way to Chase’s driveway. At that point, Lindsay realized it was Timothy who was following them and she got out of the car to confront him while Chase called the police. A brief argument ensued that ended with Timothy shooting Lindsay in the head before he turned the gun on himself.

The shooting was ultimately classified as a murder-suicide. This incident was incredibly tragic not only for Lindsay’s loved ones, but Timothy’s as well. An investigation into the murder-suicide revealed that Timothy not only had a wife, but an entire family back in Plano, Texas. His wife was apparently unaware that he was having an affair, and she had recently given birth to their fourth child just nine months prior to this unfortunate event.

Lindsay’s family has since filed a lawsuit against the Roses’ estate, which is currently pending.
