The Disappearance of Latisha Desiderio

Source: Facebook

Latisha Desiderio has been missing since July 16th, 2023. The then-33-year-old was last seen in Crownpoint, New Mexico. On the day Latisha vanished, a friend dropped her off in the parking lot of a Basha's store. She was then reportedly seen getting into a vehicle driven by an unknown individual. Latisha never returned home and has never been seen or heard from again.

There are very few details available about Latisha's case. There is not any publicly shared information about the friend who dropped her off at Basha's. There also does not appear to be a lot of information about the vehicle Latisha was reportedly last seen getting into. Most reports describe the vehicle as a white pickup truck; while a few other reports have said the vehicle is black.

Latisha is amongst several other missing individuals throughout New Mexico and the Navajo Nation. Despite the lack of information about her case, social media posts have indicated that Latisha is missed. She is someone's daughter, mother, and friend - and those loved ones are still searching for answers.

Latisha is described as a Native American woman with brown hair and brown eyes. She was approximately 5'6" and 150 lbs. at the time of her disappearance. Latisha also has several tattoos, including one across her arm that reads "Desiderio".

If you have any information that could lead to Latisha's whereabouts, please contact the Navajo Nation Police Department at the Crownpoint District at 505-786-2050.

The Disappearance of Anastasia Ferriera

Anastasia Ferriera has been missing since March 2023. The then-19-year-old was last seen in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Reports state that Anastasia's phone last pinged in the 8000 block of Central Avenue Northeast on March 16th, 2023. She has never been seen or heard from again.

According to Charley Project, Anastasia attended a party on Charleston Street on the evening of March 15th, 2023. At some point, an argument broke out and Anastasia was asked to leave. Her phone pinged for the final time the next day. Anastasia's social media accounts also seemingly went silent as well.

In July 2024, the Missing People in America blog shared a missing persons' flyer about Anastasia's case. The flyer says "Anastasia was 19 when she went missing, she was meeting with a man she knew, as text messages showed they were meeting up. She has not been seen or heard from since."

There is no further information about this man. The post does not elaborate on whether or not Anastasia planned to meet up with the man at the party on March 15th, or on the following day when her phone pinged for the final time. There are very few additional details available about Anastasia's case.

Anastasia remains missing today. If you have any information that could lead to her whereabouts, please contact the Albuquerque Police Department at 505-768-2020.

The Murder of Isiah Terrell Billy

Source: krqe.com

The FBI is seeking information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the 2020 murder of Isiah Terrell Billy.

Isiah lived on the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, New Mexico at the time of his death. He reportedly vanished on October 4th, 2020 - his 30th birthday. The following day, Isiah's body was found in a wash across the street from a Sinclair gas station in Shiprock. An autopsy determined that he had been strangled to death.

Reports describe Isiah as a quiet and kind young man. He grew up amongst six siblings and was close to his family. Isiah enjoyed playing the trumpet and watching football. There are no reports of Isiah being involved in criminal activity or having any known enemies; there is no known motive for his murder.

Authorities have revealed very little about the investigation into Isiah's case. The events leading up to his disappearance are not publicly known. Both investigators and Isiah's family members continue to appeal to the public in hopes that someone with information will come forward.

There is a reward of up to $10,000 available for "information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for the death of Isiah Terrell Billy." If you have any information that could help the investigation, please submit a tip.

The Murder of Andrae Davis

source: uncovered.com

Andrae Davis was murdered at his own home on August 17th, 2011. The 31-year-old man lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico with his fiancĂ© and their young children at the time of his death. Andrae was killed after a bullet went through the front door of his residence.

The night of the murder began as a pleasant one for Andrae. He spent the evening with his fiancĂ© and children at a local park. What began as a nice night with family quickly took a tragic turn after they returned to their home at the Eagle Nest Condominiums on Vail Street. At some point, a fight broke out in front of Andrae's residence, causing a loud commotion right outside the door.

As he looked through the peephole, Andrae noticed that the fight was amongst a group of men. He did not know the men, nor did he ever attempt to get involved in the altercation. Andrae continued to watch through the peephole as one of the men drew a gun and pulled the trigger. The bullet missed the intended target; instead, it went through Andrae's front door and struck him in the heart.

Andrae's loved ones have been left without answers or justice for several years. In the days that followed the shooting, Andrae's family members were told by police that "a person involved in the shooting had escaped from UNM Hospital and fled to Mexico." Police also stated that two other persons of interest have fled the country as well. The identities of said persons have never been publicly revealed.

In 2015, Andrae's family was awarded $12 million in a lawsuit filed against Eagle Nest Condominiums and its property management company. The lawsuit alleged that company could have done more to prevent the shooting. Screenings and background checks are reportedly required by the rules of the complex, but that rule was not being consistently followed.

An attorney for Andrae's family told reporters that the lack of background checks is what led to a known drug dealer living in the complex. The family believes said drug dealer was involved in the shooting. A jury agreed with Andrae's family, and they were subsequently rewarded the $12 million.

Still, Andrae's loved ones hope that those involved in his murder will be brought to justice. Unfortunately, Andrae's murder is considered a cold case. If you have any information that could help the investigation, please contact Albuquerque Crimestoppers at 505-843-STOP.

The Murder of Amy Lynn Hanson

Amy Lynn Hanson was only 25 years-old when she was found murdered on November 30th, 2014. The young woman lived in New Mexico at the time of her death. She was last seen by her father at her family's home in Tohatchi. Amy left the family home on November 28th to visit friends for Thanksgiving. She never returned home and was never seen alive by her family members again.

There is very little information available about Amy's whereabouts and/or actions between November 28th and 30th. What is known is that Amy's sister spoke with Amy on the phone on November 29th - a day before her body was found. During their conversation, Amy's sister asked her if she wanted to go shopping. Amy declined, stating that she already had plans to go with her friends. What happened after that phone call ended remains a mystery to this day.

The following day, a father and son spotted a human body in an arroyo in Red Rock, New Mexico. Police were called, and the body was later identified as Amy Lynn Hanson. Her death was caused by blunt force trauma. Amy's manner of death was labeled as a homicide.

Very few details are available about the investigation into Amy's case. At some point around the time her body was found, her car was also found abandoned at a local tow yard. Other than that, police have remained tight-lipped about the investigation. No suspects or persons-of-interest have been publicly named. The identities of the friends Amy met for Thanksgiving have not been publicly revealed.

The FBI is involved in Amy's murder investigation. There is a monetary reward available for anyone with information that could help solve her case. If you have any information that could lead to Amy's killer, please submit a tip.

The Disappearance of Cindy Rivera

Cindy Rivera went missing at the age of 19 on June 30th, 2012. The young mother was last seen at her father's house in Las Vegas, New Mexico, where she lived with her family members and a bedridden man who was under her care. Cindy left the home on the evening of June 30th, after telling the bedridden man that she would only be gone for a few minutes. Unfortunately, she never returned.

Cindy left her infant son in the bathroom, and the bedridden man reportedly heard the baby crying all night. When Cindy's family members returned home the following morning, they found Cindy's slippers, a few cigarettes, and a lighter strewn across the ground outside. Both Cindy and Cindy's car were nowhere in sight. She was reported missing shortly thereafter.

Over the years, police have reportedly followed many leads in the case, but Cindy has still not been found. Cindy's family members believe that she was kidnapped and murdered. In fact, they originally named two different men as the probable killers: one of them being her ex-husband and father of one of her children. The family members later stated that they believed the ex-husband was the one responsible; they had even heard rumors that he bragged about killing Cindy and burying her in a remote desert area.

Despite this, police initially did not the ex-husband or the other man as suspects in the case. They stated that they simply do not have probable cause to execute search warrants on either man. The media also did not release the names of either men.

Cindy's disappearance quickly faded into a cold case. News about her case was scarce for several years. Then, in 2021, an arrest was finally made - allowing the case to move forward for the first time since 2012.

Anselmo 'Chemo' Richard Ortiz.

Ortiz. (source)

In June 2021, a man named Anselmo “Chemo” Richard Ortiz, then 37, was charged in connection with Cindy's disappearance. According to the affidavits, Ortiz is believed to have helped Cindy's ex-husband, Christopher Trujillo, kidnap and kill Cindy around the time of her 2012 disappearance.

Cindy and Christopher Trujillo.

Cindy and Christopher Trujillo had been married but were no longer together at the time of Cindy's disappearance. The two shared a child together. Cindy is known to have seen Trujillo right before she vanished as Cindy had called her sister around 1:00 AM and said that Trujillo was intoxicated outside the home where she was caring for the sick patient.

For years, Cindy's loved ones knew that Trujillo was likely responsible for her disappearance. The lack of progress in the investigation was both frustrating and devastating for her family members. Ortiz's arrest in 2021 is what finally caused the case to pick back up. However, it would take several years, and a rift between Ortiz and Trujillo for that to finally happen.

The relationship between Ortiz and Trujillo breaks down.

A year after Cindy's disappearance, Ortiz was convicted on drug-trafficking charges. He was in prison from 2013 to 2019. Upon his release, Ortiz reunited with Trujillo and began working for him at his towing company.

Eventually, their relationship began to sour. Trujillo reportedly accused of Ortiz of using company credit cards for personal charges. He also threatened to harm Ortiz's son.

During April 2021, Ortiz reached out to investigators, stating he wanting to speak with them about Cindy's disappearance. He also began to reach out to Cindy's family members on Facebook. Around the same time, Trujillo began behaving erratically.

Trujillo's death; information from his phone.

On May 2nd, 2021, Trujillo's wife contacted the police and stated that Trujillo was threatening to harm himself and Ortiz. Shortly thereafter, Trujillo's body was found in La Cienega. His death was ruled a suicide.

Police retrieved Trujillo's phone, which included record conversations that incriminated him in Cindy's disappearance. During one of the conversations, Trujillo stated "I killed my ex-wife, Cindy Rivera, and buried her in the national forest. I’m going to tell them [Ortiz] killed her and buried her."

Ortiz's charges and a failed plea agreement.

Trujillo's death meant that authorities would never be able to charge him with Cindy's murder - but they were still able to charge Ortiz for his involvement in the case. Ortiz was indicted for kidnapping and kidnapping conspiracy charges in July 2021.

As previously noted, Ortiz's arrest affidavits stated that he allegedly assisted Trujillo with kidnapping, killing, and disposing of Cindy Rivera. The affidavits also revealed that Ortiz's wife and mother-in-law saw Ortiz and Trujillo together on the afternoon after Cindy's disappearance; they both were covered in scratches, dirt, and blood. Trujillo's relatives saw the two men together that day in a similar state as well.

In September 2022, Ortiz accepted a plea deal in which he would serve 10 years in exchange for the location of Cindy's remains. He reportedly led 22 members of law enforcement to an area in Bernal where the officials searched for seven hours, but no remains were found. Investigators concluded that Ortiz "did not provide useful information" and as such, his plea agreement was revoked.

A new agreement and sentencing.

In 2023, Ortiz accepted a new plea agreement. He was subsequently sentenced to 21 years with 4.5 of those years suspended. As such, Ortiz was ordered to spend 16.5 years in prison with 4.5 years of probation immediately following his release.

Where is Cindy?

Following Ortiz's sentencing, District Attorney Tom Clayton told reporters that Ortiz may not actually know the location of Cindy's remains. He explained, "Quite honestly, I don’t think he knows where she’s at. He was so intoxicated that night, and it’d been 10-plus years."

Cindy's family still hopes to find her remains and give her a proper burial. Anyone with potential information is asked to contact the Las Vegas State Police at 505-425-6771.

The Disappearance of Elizabeth Hernandez

Elizabeth Hernandez (29) was four months pregnant when she vanished on November 15th, 2017. She was last seen in her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she lived with her boyfriend Miguel Martinez. On the day she was last seen, Miguel reportedly dropped Elizabeth off at the Department of Human Services Office in Albuquerque. However, Elizabeth never signed in at the office and she never returned home afterwards. She has never been seen or heard from again.
Elizabeth left behind two children, which is uncharacteristic of her. Her family members do not believe she is missing on her own accord. In fact, Elizabeth’s sister specifically stated that she believes Miguel has more information about Elizabeth’s disappearance than he has disclosed. Miguel was the father of Elizabeth’s unborn child, and according to Elizabeth’s sister, Miguel did not want the baby. Miguel was also the last person to see Elizabeth before she vanished. Despite all of this, Miguel has not been named as a suspect in the case.
Foul play is suspected to be involved in Elizabeth’s disappearance. The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating. If you have any information that could help the investigation, please contact 505-924-6095.

The Disappearance of Tiffany Reid

Image result for tiffany reid disappearance

Tiffany Reid vanished at the age of 16 on May 17th, 2004. She was last seen while walking to her school in Shiprock, New Mexico. Tiffany never arrived at school and has never been seen or heard from again.

After she vanished, a make-up bag and a number of clothing items were found scattered around the base of the Carrizo Mountains in Sweetwater, Arizona. At the time, that area was well-known as a place where teenagers would go to party. The make-up bag was eventually positively identified as Tiffany's; however, investigators could not positively link the clothing to her.

Investigators believe that Tiffany is a runaway. They initially stated that she might still be in the Sweetwater area, or that she might have traveled to Mexico. However, two decades have passed without any trace of Tiffany - there have been no reported sightings of her since her disappearance. She remains missing today.

If you have any information that could lead to Tiffany's whereabouts, please contact the Navajo Department of Public Safety at 505-368-1350 or the Shiprock Police Department at 505-368-1350.
