The Disappearance and Death of Brittany Palmer

Brittany Palmer has been missing since August 22nd, 2020. The 23-year-old vanished in Jacksonville, Florida. Brittany was last seen at a friend's home in the New Town neighborhood, near Baldwin Street and Barber Street. She was reportedly in that neighborhood to visit with a friend's mother. At some point during this outing, Brittany called her own mother, Vontria Mobley, and expressed that she was upset over some money that had been taken from her. Vontria told Brittany to call her back later, but unfortunately, she never did. Brittany also never returned home.

During the early morning hours of August 24th, Vontria received a phone call from Brittany's phone. When Vontria tried to call back, an unidentified woman answered the phone and said that she had purchased the phone from someone. Since then, Brittany has never been seen or heard from again.

Brittany's loved ones describe her as a very trusting person, and they fear that someone she trusted might have taken advantage of her. Six years before her disappearance, Brittany was involved in car accident which caused a traumatic brain injury. She also walked with a limp as the result of the accident and had to travel with a cane or walker. Brittany injuries and trusting nature likely made her an easy target to those with the wrong intentions.

Shortly before her disappearance, Brittany had gotten into a fight with friends who she believed had stolen money from her. It's unclear if these accusations are related to her disappearance, but her loved ones believe that there is a possible connection.

Brittany remains missing today. If you have any information that could lead to her whereabouts, please contact authorities at JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org.

UPDATE (February 16th, 2022):

Brittany's remains have been found.

Various reports state that remains of a 'Jane Doe' were found at abandoned cemetery at the intersection of Moncrief Road and Edgewood Avenue in October 2020--just a month and a half after Brittany vanished. In February 2022, DNA tests helped positively identify the 'Jane Doe' as Brittany.

The discovery of Brittany's remains has led to more questions than answers. The medical examiner reportedly said that there is no evidence of foul play or trauma, but the cause of death has not yet been determined. A toxicology report is still ongoing.

As of right now, the death is not being investigated as a homicide. However, Brittany's mother Vontria has questioned this. "She didn’t just automatically walk into a gravesite," Vontria told reporters. "Somebody knows something."

The investigation is still ongoing. If you have any information that could help, please contact Jacksonville authorities.
