The Murder of Kayla Freeland

Kayla Freeland was shot to death inside her Jacksonville, Florida apartment on February 6th, 2016. The 20-year-old was reportedly found by her boyfriend around 10am. The boyfriend told police he had left their Arlington Village apartment to go to a convenience store. When he returned, he found Kayla dead. Kayla's young son, who was just a day away from celebrating his first birthday, was found unharmed in the apartment. Investigators immediately classified Kayla's death as a homicide.

No persons of interest have been publicly named in the case. Very few details about the investigation are available, and the case remains unsolved. Just days after Kayla's death, her mother made a public appeal for anyone with information to break the "code of silence" and come forward. Unfortunately, years have passed without any arrests or further news on the case.

If you have any information that could lead to Kayla's murderer, please call 866-845-TIPS to submit an anonymous tip.
