The Disappearance of Abby Patterson

Image result for abby patterson

20 year old Abby Patterson disappeared from her mother’s home in Lumberton, North Carolina on September 5th, 2017. On that day, Abby told her mother that she was going to run some errands. She was last seen getting into a brown Buick car that belonged to an unidentified male acquaintance around 11:30am. Abby never returned home and has not been seen or heard from again.

Recently before she disappeared, Abby had been discharged from a drug rehabilitation treatment facility. It is currently unknown if Abby’s drug use plays a role in her disappearance. Additionally, Abby disappeared from an area not far from where three other women had been found murdered. Months earlier, on April 18th, 2017, the body of 32 year old Christine Bennett was found in an abandoned home in Lumberton. That same day, the body of Rhonda Jones was phone in a nearby trash container. A 28-year-old neighborhood resident named Megan Oxendine was interviewed by a local news station at the time Rhonda’s body was discovered. Weeks later, on June 3, 2017, Megan’s remains were found about 500 feet away from where the other bodies were found. These murders remain unsolved, and it is currently unknown if they are related to Abby’s disappearance.

Investigators were apparently able to interview the man who picked Abby up in the Buick; he told investigators that he dropped Abby off near her mother’s home on September 5th. Investigators have not released where he said he dropped her off, nor have they released any more details on this man’s identity. Abby remains missing today, and the FBI is actively investigating her case. If you have any tips, please report it here. If you have any information about the other three murders, please contact the Lumberton, NC police at (910) 738-1133.
