Abree Boykin was only 24 years old when she was found murdered inside her home on July 10th, 2018. Abree was an Army wife who was living on base near Hunter Army Airfield in Georgia. Her husband was deployed in South Korea at the time of her death. Abree’s body was found after the Fort Stewart military police conducted a welfare check at her home.

At the time, police did not reveal any further details about her death; only the fact that they believed Abree knew her killer. Nearly a year passed without any news on the case. Then, on June 6th, 2019, it was announced that a 27-year-old man named Stafon Jamar Davis was arrested and charged with Abree's murder.

Details about Abree's relationship with Davis or a potential motive for her murder were not revealed at the time of his arrest, so the public was left with many unanswered questions about the case. However, many were glad to see an arrest in the case.

September 2020: a guilty plea.

After his 2018 arrest, Stafon Davis initially pleaded not guilty. However, in 2020, he pleaded to guilty to murdering Abree Boykin. During the court proceedings, it was stated that Davis and Abree had known each other since childhood. Davis reportedly shot Abree to death inside her home during the early morning hours of July 9th, 2018.

Abree's car.

After shooting Abree, Stafon left fled from her home in her car. He then called a man named Devin Ryan to help him get rid of the vehicle. Davis and Ryan met while in jail on previous charges. Both men were on federal supervised release at the time of the murder. Still, Ryan agreed to help Davis get rid of the car.

The two met up in Hardeeville, South Carolina. Ryan brought a container of gasoline. Together, Davis and Ryan poured the gasoline inside the car before setting it on fire. The remains of the car were taken to a salvage yard and scrapped before police could track it down.

Sentencings.

In December 2020, Ryan pleaded guilty to the use of fire in commission of a federal felony. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Another defendant, Jenard Patilla, was sentenced to nearly four years in prison with three years of supervised release for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after he had possession of the gun that was used to kill Abree.

Stafon Davis was later sentenced to 60 years in prison. He remains behind bars today.
