The Disappearance of Maria Nina Miller
![]() |
Source: FBI.gov |
Maria Nina Miller has been missing since February 4th, 2011.
The last known sighting of the then-34-year-old woman occurred at her workplace, Dandy Mini Mart, in Towanda, Pennsylvania. Maria told coworkers that she was going to take the next few days off so she could go with her husband to visit his sick mother in Charleston, West Virginia. She planned to be back in Towanda by February 7th to work an overnight shift, but she never showed up. Maria has never been seen or heard from again.
Maria is originally from the Philippines. She met her husband, Kenneth Miller, while he was deployed in Philippines by the U.S. Army. The couple moved to the United States in 2005. They lived in Norfolk, Virginia for approximately five years before moving to Towanda, Pennsylvania in 2010. There, Kenneth worked as a recruiter while Maria worked at the Dandy Mini Mart.
Police were not notified about Maria's disappearance until June 10th, 2011 - over four months after she was last seen. The U.S. Army filed the report after it became known that nobody had seen or been able to get in contact with Maria for a long period of time. Throughout the investigation, it was established that the last confirmed sighting of Maria occurred at the Dandy Mini Mart on February 4th.
When Kenneth was questioned, he said that he and Maria traveled to Charleston after her February 4th shift. He claimed that the two of them got into an argument in the parking lot of Charleston Area Medical Center, and that Maria demanded to be taken to Virginia Beach. Kenneth said that he complied with her request and ended up dropping her off at an apartment complex in the Virginia Beach area. He told police that, after that, he never saw or heard from his wife again.
There has been inevitable suspicion about Kenneth since the onset of the investigation. Not only did he not report Maria missing, but he also claimed that he drove Maria all the way from Charleston to Virginia Beach - over 400 miles away and an approximate 6-to-7-hour drive - to drop her off. This would mean that the couple had already traveled an approximate 6-to-7 hours from Towanda to Charleston, and then another 6-to-7 hours from Charleston to Virginia Beach.
It's worth noting that investigators have not been able to confirm Kenneth's version of events. All online reports about Maria's disappearance state that she was last seen at her workplace in Towanda. As noted above, this appears to be the last sighting of her that police have been able to verify. However, Kenneth has continuously denied involvement in Maria's disappearance. Police have declined to answer whether or not they consider Kenneth a suspect.
The FBI is involved in the investigation into Maria's disappearance. There is a monetary reward available in exchange for information that could help solve the case. If you have any information that could help, please submit a tip.

The Disappearance of Le-Thuy 'Cathy' Tran
Source: NamUs |
Le-Thuy 'Cathy' Tran has been missing since January 31st, 2012. The then-45-year-old was last seen at her home in Harvey, Louisiana. Cathy's landlord said that she last saw Cathy when she paid her rent at her apartment complex's management office. The landlord later called police after she noticed Cathy had seemingly vanished after making that payment.
Very little information is known about the circumstances surrounding Cathy's disappearance. According to certain reports, Cathy had spent time gambling in Biloxi, Mississippi prior to her disappearance. She reportedly returned to her home in Louisiana on January 15th, 2012. It's unclear if this is connected to her disappearance; further information about her time in Biloxi is unknown.
A local New Orleans news report about Cathy's disappearance was published on February 29th, 2012. The report states that, during that time, detectives were unable to get in touch with Cathy's family or friends. Several years have passed since then, so it's unknown if this is still true. There have been no further updates about Cathy's case.
Cathy was known to drive a light gray 2009 Toyota Camry with the California license plate number 6DXT129 at the time of her disappearance. The car has also not been seen since she vanished.
If you have any information that could help solve Cathy's disappearance, please contact the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office 504-364-5300.

September 2016: Brittanee's father, Chad Drexel, announces that he believes the allegations about the Taylor family being responsible for Brittanee's disappearance are true. He also starts a petition asking for a grand jury to weigh in on the informant's statements. Chad requested that Timothy and Shaun Taylor be charged if the grand jury finds the informant to be truthful.

March 2017: Investigators search a private property outside of Georgetown in relation to Brittanee's case. It's noted that unspecified evidence and/or a tip sent authorities to the property - there is no further elaboration. After the search, investigators state they made "some progress" - but once again, no further information is provided.
Angel Vause. |
As it turns out, Vause had been interviewed back in 2011 - when Moody was first eyed as a person of interest. During their interview, Vause denied that her and Moody had seen Brittanee on the night of her disappearance. Evidence from the case further revealed that investigators believe Vause also lied during 2022 interviews as well.

The Disappearance and Murder of Lori Paige
![]() |
source: WTXL |
Lori Paige vanished on June 3rd, 2023. The then-12-year-old girl was last seen in Tallahassee, Florida, on Continental Court near Ocala Road. Lori never returned home and has not been seen or heard from again.
When Lori was first reported missing, investigators initially did not suspect foul play because, according to reports, "all signs pointed to a voluntary runaway." Lori had run away before, about a month prior to her June 2023 disappearance. It appears that she was only missing for a short amount of time after her first time running away. This time around, though, Lori did not return home.
Unlike most preteens and teens, Lori had a very small digital footprint. A report on Lori's case from February 2024 states that friends helped her during her previous runaway. However, it does not appear that investigators have been able to identify anyone who helped Lori run away in June 2023.
The Tallahassee Police Department investigated over 1,200 missing juvenile cases between the years of 2021 and 2023. As of February 2024, only seven of those cases are still open - Lori's being one of them. Tallahassee Police Detective Anna Lee Drake told reporters in that 2024 report that that Lori's case was the only case she's worked involving a missing juvenile "who has been missing this long without any contact." As such, there were increased concerns for Lori's safety and wellbeing.
There is very little information available about Lori's disappearance. The events on the day she left home are unknown. At the time of this posting (February 2024), Lori's family had not publicly spoken about her disappearance. In fact, it appears that the only person who has spoken out is Margaret Summers - a teaching assistant from Lori's middle school.
Summers has spread awareness about Lori's disappearance on social media and has spoken to reporters about the case. She also expressed that she does not believe Lori has stayed away for this long on her own. In February 2024, Summers told reporters, "I do not believe for a second that she’s sustaining herself. There’s adults who can’t even make it on their own."
In 2025, a major break was made in the case. Digital footprints from Lori's father, Andrew Wiley, led investigators to Merrily Plantation in Thomas County, Georgia. While searching the area, investigators found the remains of Lori Paige. Shortly after the discovery, Wiley was arrested and charged with his daughter's murder.
This case is currently unfolding, and updates are expected.
Rest in peace, Lori.

The Disappearance and Murder of Christian Boyle
![]() |
Source: AL.com |
Christian Boyle vanished in Blount County, Alabama on December 12th, 2017. The 18-year-old planned to go to his parent's house that evening to do laundry, but he never showed up. Christian's family then attempted to get in touch with him via phone and social media, but their attempts were unsuccessful.
Christian's sudden absence was a huge red flag to his mother, who stated that her son called her daily, and also frequently checked up on his father, who was ill. Worries quickly began to build when the communications from Christian abruptly stopped. Family and friends looked around various places in Blount County to no avail; both Christian and his car had seemingly vanished.
Nearly two weeks later, on Christmas Day, a group of ATV riders spotted Christian's car on Cold Branch Road. Police were called, and when they arrived on the scene, they found Christian's body near the vehicle. He had been shot to death.
Several years have passed, and Christian's murder remains unsolved. At one point, investigators stated that they had two main suspects - both of whom were already behind bars, facing murder charges from another county. The investigation into Christian's murder has not produced enough evidence to move forward with charges. The two suspects have never been publicly identified.
Christian's mother describes him as a trusting person who was always willing to help someone in need. A motive for his murder is unknown. Unfortunately, Christian's case has grown cold.
If you have any information that could help solve Christian's murder, please contact the Blount County Sheriff’s Office at 205-625-4127, the Alabama Attorney General Cold Case hotline at 866-419-1236, or submit a tip online.

The Abduction of Sophia Franklin
During February 2025, an AMBER Alert was issued in the states of Wisconsin, Arkansas and Missouri, for Sophia Franklin - a 16-year-old missing from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. The teen girl was last seen at her family's home on the evening of February 2nd, 2025. The following morning, Sophia was gone. Her family contacted police shortly after realizing she wasn't at the residence.
It was immediately feared that Sophia left her house to meet up with Gary Day - a 40-year-old man with a history of abusing children. Sophia and Day reportedly began talking online in April 2024. On July 29th, 2024, Sophia told her parents she was going to stay with a friend in the Beaver Dam area. In reality, she was picked up by Day and driven to his residence in Austin, Arkansas.
![]() |
Gary Day. (ABC News) |
Day was already on probation at this point due to a child endangerment charge from 2020. A probation officer made a routine stop by Day's home during December 2024 and noticed a young girl running out of the back of the residence. It was eventually learned that the young girl was Sophia; a 16-year-old from Wisconsin. Sophia eventually told officers that she had been there since August and planned to marry Day.
Sophia's parents were reportedly shocked to learn of their daughter's relationship with Day, as they thought she had been staying with a friend in the local area. Sophia was subsequently returned to her family's home in Wisconsin. An order of protection was put in place, forbidding Day and Sophia to have contact.
At some point in the midst of all this, Sophia learned she was pregnant with Day's child. The child was conceived in Arkansas - where the age of consent is 16 - so Day was not charged with statutory rape. It's believed that Sophia was approximately 3 months along at the time the February 2025 AMBER alerts were issued.
Despite the order of protection, Day and Sophia continued to have contact via text and email after her return to Wisconsin. Then, in early February 2025, the two met up in person once again. Day drove to Wisconsin and was captured by home security cameras walking by the Franklin's house on the morning of February 3rd.

Shortly thereafter, Sophia was discovered to be missing from the home. An AMBER alert was immediately issued in the state of Wisconsin, asking the public to be on the lookout for a black 2014 Buick LaCrosse. The car had recently been seen using two different plates: Pennsylvania KGW5186 and Arkansas BBR20L.
