Today's true crime anniversary involves the unsolved disappearance and murder of a young girl from New York.
The disappearance & murder of Jennifer Hammond.
It has been 19 years since Jennifer Hammond vanished in Milton, New York. The then-18-year-old lived in Albany and had a job selling magazine subscriptions. On August 1st, 2003, Jennifer was dropped off at the Creek & Pines mobile home so she could sell subscriptions door-to-door. When Jennifer's co-workers returned to the mobile home park later to pick her up, she was nowhere to be found. She never returned to the hotel in Albany and was never seen or heard from again.
Jennifer's case seemed to quickly go cold. There were very few updates in her case. Over six years later, in October 2009, a human skull was found in Lake Desolation Forest in Greenfield. Forensic testing later confirmed that the skull belonged to Jennifer Hammond. She had been murdered.
Investigators believe Jennifer's murder is connected to the murder of Christina White. Christina vanished from Milton nearly two years after Jennifer's disappearance. Her remains were found in Greenfield during March 2006. She had been stabbed to death. Jennifer and Christina both vanished from the same area, and were found in close proximity as well. Unfortunately, both of their cases still remain unsolved.
