Today in True Crime: July 10, 2022

 Today's true crime anniversaries:

1. The disappearance and murder of Breasia Terrell

Today marks two years since Breasia Terrell vanished in Davenport, Illinois. The 10-year-old girl was last seen alive at the home of Henry Dinkins--a registered sex offender. Dinkins is the father of Breasia's half-brother, and the two children had spent the afternoon of July 9th at Dinkins' residence. Breasia later called her mother to ask if she could spend the night at Dinkins' house, to which Breasia's mother said yes. Although Breasia's mother knew Dinkins was a registered sex offender, she thought that her daughter would be safe at his residence since she was with her brother.

Unfortunately, Breasia's mother was wrong. Breasia never returned from Dinkins house and was never seen alive again. Dinkins was inevitably named a suspect in the case, but he denied any knowledge of Breasia's whereabouts. In April 2021, Breasia's remains were found in a pond in DeWitt by a group of fishermen. Her death was labeled a homicide. The following month, Dinkins was charged with Breasia's kidnapping and murder. The case is currently ongoing.

2. The disappearance of Natoya Stephens

Today is also the 10-year anniversary of the disappearance of Natoya Stephens. Natoya was 29 years old when she vanished in Brooklyn, New York. Certain reports state that she left her residence on Leffert Avenue after a fight with her fiancé. Natoya has never been seen or heard from again.

Natoya's fiancé has never been publicly named as a suspect, although he is the last person believed to have seen her. No other suspects have been publicly named either. Natoya's loved ones unfortunately still do not have any answers in the case. Very few updates are available.
