During the early-morning hours of September 11th, 2017, police in New Orleans were called about a disturbance at a parking lot in Central City. Upon their arrival, they found a woman who had been shot in the back. That woman was later identified as 35-year-old Giggie Blount. EMTs rushed Giggie to the hospital, but she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.

As police investigated the incident that left Giggie dead, they learned that she had been in an argument with either one or multiple people before she was shot. It appears that the identify of said person(s) remains unknown at this time. Giggie's family members said that they have heard many rumors about what happened the morning she was killed, but nothing has been confirmed.

Giggie was a mother of 7 and the oldest of 8 siblings. She left behind numerous loved ones who are now searching for answers. Police are reportedly still searching for both a motive and a suspect in the case. If you have any information that could help the investigation, please contact Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
