The Disappearance and Murder of Anastasia Hill

 

Anastasia Hill was just one day away from turning 15 years old when she vanished on March 6th, 2010. At the time of her disappearance, Anastasia lived with her grandmother and her siblings in Ellenwood, Georgia.  According to her grandmother, Anastasia was looking forward to things many teens look forward to: learning to drive, getting a first job, etc. Unfortunately, before any of those things could happen, Anastasia vanished.

Anastasia spent March 5th, 2010, with her family. Her grandmother had taken her and her siblings to a skating rink in Mt. Zion. Afterwards, the family ate at Steak 'n' Shake. Anastasia reportedly enjoyed the day with her family, and it did not appear that anything was unusual with her behavior. Her grandmother said that she last saw Anastasia that evening before she went to bed. The following morning, Anastasia's grandmother went to wake her up-only to find that Anastasia was not there. Her bedroom window was left open. After contacting friends and learning that none of them knew of Anastasia's whereabouts, Anastasia's family reported her missing. 

Anastasia's grandmother stated that two days after Anastasia vanished, two teen brothers showed up at her house with a braid that looked like it belonged to Anastasia. One of the boys reportedly told Anastasia's mother that Anastasia was at their house on the evening of March 5th. The identities of the two brothers have not been publicly revealed, and it's unclear if they were ever considered persons of interest. 

Months later, on November 19th, 2010, human remains were found in a wooded area off of Georgia Highway 138 in Stockbridge. It took over a year, but in January 2012, dental records confirmed that the remains belonged to Anastasia Hill. She had been murdered. An autopsy confirmed that Anastasia died of blunt force trauma to the head. 

Years have passed, and no arrests have been made in Anastasia's case. According to Anastasia's family members, detectives have questioned "certain individuals of interest about her case, but there hasn't been enough information for a conviction."
